Lover's Lake Park Introduction
Lovers Lake Park is located on the hillside of Dawulun Mountain in the outer suburbs of Keelung, where six small streams converge to form the area's only high-altitude lake. Although the surface of the lake is not very broad, its scenery is exquisite and beautiful, reminiscent of a delicate jade beauty. The surroundings are densely wooded, with emerald-green waters, picturesque mountains and rivers, making for a refreshing and pleasant atmosphere. During spring and summer, the area is alive with the sounds of insects and birds, colorful butterflies fluttering about, and migratory birds passing through, making it a worthwhile destination for nature lovers. Originally named "Wucha Bei," Lovers Lake got its name because the Keelung Youth Corps often held activities there. The lake area is equipped with facilities such as viewing pavilions, Lovers Suspension Bridge, scenic waterfront platforms, windmills, mountain trails, and lakeside paths. The trails are lined with lush trees, and various plants present the changing seasons, allowing visitors to enjoy a forest bath filled with phytoncides while admiring the picturesque landscape. Walking north toward Lovers Lake, you can find a trail that leads to a coastal ridge. From the ridge trail, not only can you view the ocean, but you can also see the Au-ti Fishing Port, Keelung Islet, and Yehliu Cape in the distance, which provides a refreshing and uplifting experience. Another explanation for the name "Lovers Lake" is that there are two interconnected lakes in the scenic area, resembling lovers cuddling together, hence the name. Because of this, there is a romantic legend associated with Lovers Lake. It is said that the Lovers Bridge over the lake possesses a special magic; couples who cross it hand in hand will have good fortune in their romantic relationships. Because of this beautiful legend, many newlyweds visit this place to take wedding photos, and the uniquely shaped windmills by the lakeside further enhance the beauty of the legend. To the east of Lovers Lake lies Fort Dawulun, which is not only the highest peak in the area but also a site of historical significance. The Dawulun Fort (a national historic site), built during the Qing Dynasty, is one of the important relics from the Sino-French War. Many of its walls and related structures have been well-preserved, and the surrounding old banyan trees intertwine with them, adding to the historic charm of the area. Lovers Lake Scenic Area is a must-visit for tourists, offering beautiful scenery and fresh air. Nearby attractions, such as Fort Dawulun, make it a great addition to your travel itinerary.
