One-Jiang Mountain Monument Introduction
One of the important battles after the Nationalist government retreated to Taiwan, this site commemorates all the soldiers who fought bravely! Yijiangshan, an island off the coast of Zhejiang, was retaken by the Nationalist government in 1949. At that time, for strategic considerations, they aimed to control Kinmen, Matsu, and Dachen Island, as well as Yijiangshan, in order to launch a counterattack on the mainland. On January 18, 1955, the Chinese Communist Party launched a large-scale attack on Yijiangshan. After more than sixty hours, the commander of the defending troops detonated a hand grenade, resulting in the deaths of all stationed soldiers, marking a tragic battle. Site construction: Monument erected in September 1956.
