Twelve Gates Old Cannon Introduction

The Mysterious Heavyweight Ancient Cannon Ruins - This set of twelve ancient cannons was relocated to this site in 1975. One of the cannon barrels has clear inscriptions, stating: "In the autumn of the 12th year of the Jiaqing reign, upon order from the Fujian-Zhejiang Command, cast by the Fujian Governor, for the Taiwan Navy in Zuoying, each weighs one thousand pounds." The origin of these ancient cannons is still undocumented; they may be related to Wang De-lu, a naval commander from Chiayi, or possibly the original cannons that were placed at the east, south, and west city gates. Construction date: Cast in the 12th year of the Jiaqing reign (1807 AD).
