Lion's Head Mountain Park (Lion's Head Mountain Trail) Introduction
Lion's Head Mountain Park is located on Jinshan Cape at an elevation of about 70 meters, offering views to the east of Yehliu Cape and to the west of Huanggang Fishing Port and the mountainous sea views of Zhongjiao. It showcases the three major attractions of the Jinshan coastline: the Candleholder Islets, Huanggang Fishing Lights, and the Moonlight over Shuiwei. Protected under long-term military control, the ecological resources of Lion's Head Mountain are rich and well-preserved. In recent years, due to successful restoration, visitors may encounter stunning seasonal blooms of Taiwan lilies or golden spider lilies along the trails. Transitioning from a military coastal defense zone to a tourist destination, remnants of old barracks, bunkers, artillery emplacements, and original natural ecology remain, creating a forest trail with excellent ocean views on three sides. The circular trail around Lion's Head Mountain is shaded by trees, providing a cool walking environment with a gentle slope, making it suitable for family outings. At the entrance, the smiling "Maitreya Buddha - A Fu" statue is adorably cute, and don’t forget to take photos with it. Further in, you can also appreciate the poignant legend of the "Couple Stone." The "Candleholder Islets," resembling two candle holders, can be best photographed from this lookout, through a steel circular frame, with the sea-eroded rock pillars appearing as a couple gazing at each other—a perfect spot for couples to commemorate their visit. Additionally, you can explore the mysterious coastline of the North Coast, appreciating the tofu rocks and sandstone relics in the sea-eroded platform area.
