Lion's Head Mountain Park (Lion's Head Mountain Trail) Introduction
Lion's Head Mountain Park is located on the Jinshan Cape at an elevation of about 70 meters, offering views of Yehliu Cape to the east and the Huanggang Fishing Port and Zhongjiao's mountain and sea scenery to the west. Visitors can enjoy the three major coastal attractions of Jinshan: the Candleholder Islets, Huanggang Fishing Lights, and the Moonlight on Shuifang. Under long-term military protection, the ecological resources of Lion's Head Mountain are rich and intact. In recent years, due to successful restoration efforts, one can encounter the beautiful blooms of Taiwan lilies or golden spider lilies along the trails in different seasons. Transitioning from an early military coastal defense zone to a tourist destination, the area retains old barracks, bunkers, artillery positions, and original natural ecology, making it a forest trail with ocean views on three sides. The circular trail of Lion's Head Mountain is shaded by trees, making it cool to walk and the path is gentle, suitable for family outings. At the entrance, the laughing and adorable 'Maitreya Buddha - Afu' is a must-see for photo opportunities. Further in, visitors can appreciate the tragic legend of the "Couple Stone" and find the best angle for photographing the Candleholder Islets at the observation platform, where the steel circular frame provides a perfect view of these sea-eroded rock pillars resembling a couple holding hands and gazing at each other, ideal for couples to capture memories. Additionally, explore the mysterious coastline of the North Coast, where one can admire the Tofu Rock and sandstone relics in the sea-eroded platform area.
