Dajili Commercial Company Introduction
In the early years, the Tamsui River was deep enough to accommodate large vessels, becoming a very important port area after Tamsui opened as a trade port. "Dakin & Co." was one of the top five trading companies in Tamsui at that time (Deji, Heji, Yiji, Dakin, and Baoshun). Notably, while "Dakin & Co." served general trading functions, shipping was its primary business, and it monopolized Taiwan's shipping routes for thirty years. It not only witnessed the vigorous development after Tamsui's opening but also served as the vessel for Dr. Mackay's arrival in Taiwan on the "Hailong" ship operated by "Dakin & Co." Since 2023, it has served as an exhibition space for the Tamsui historic site micro-museum.
