Dajili Merchant Co. Introduction
In the past, the Tamsui River was deep enough to accommodate large ships, making it a very important port area after Tamsui was opened as a trading port. The "Degi Li Shipping Company" was one of the five major shipping companies in Tamsui at the time (Toky, Heji, Yiji, Degi Li, and Baoshun). Notably, in addition to the typical trading functions of shipping companies, shipping was its primary business and it monopolized the Taiwan shipping routes for thirty years. It witnessed the thriving development following the opening of Tamsui, including the fact that the ship "Hailong" operated by the "Degi Li Shipping Company" was the one that Dr. Mackay took when he came to Taiwan. Starting in 2023, it serves as an exhibition space for the Tamsui historical site miniature museum.
