Houtong Cat Village Introduction
The "Houtong Cat Village," located next to Houtong Station, is one of the famous tourist attractions in New Taipei City and was recommended by CNN as one of the six best cat-watching spots in the world. The cats here, cared for by the residents, are clean and not afraid of people, making them the best feline models for photography. The origin of Houtong Cat Village dates back to a cat-loving netizen who organized a volunteer team to improve the village's environment, providing a friendlier living space for the cats. It gradually gained fame through the spread of information online and has become a pilgrimage site for many cat-loving visitors. Additionally, in order to promote the correct concept of cat feeding and conservation, a Cat Affairs Office was established in the village, featuring a wall mural with cute cat illustrations designed by an artist. The exterior and interior spaces are equipped with catwalks and platforms, allowing cats to come and go freely and play. Outdoor handwashing stations and cat water features enable visitors to observe the cats up close, gaining insight into their habits. The village also has a row of cat cafes offering coffee and simple snacks, providing a great opportunity to relax with a cup of coffee while enjoying the chance to see adorable cats playing right in front of you.
