Three-Pound Bicycle Path Introduction
"The Three Cavities" is a Taiwanese Hokkien pronunciation meaning "three caves," named after the three railway tunnels (Yuan Shan No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 tunnels) that are connected. It is a newly developed bicycle path in Houtong. The Three Cavities is located beside the Fuzhu Tunnel, along the Keelung River. The river area nearby was once known as Zhuzi Pond. Not far across the river is the famous Yuan Shanzi Flood Control Channel. You can also see the ancient Fu'an Temple local god shrine above the water inlet of the Yuan Shan Flood Control Channel. Due to its relatively remote location, it has a desolate and ancient feel. The stone walls at the tunnel entrance are covered with thick green moss. The first two tunnels are short and bright, allowing visitors to stroll through and admire the old brickwork inside the tunnels. Between the second and third tunnels, there is a small viewing platform with a place to sit and rest. The third tunnel is longer and curved, making it a great place to enjoy a cool breeze while cycling along the route.
