Sunset Viewing Guide ■ The Ocean Pool at Nayang Beach is open to the public every summer (June to August) from Monday, Wednesday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 6 PM. It is closed for maintenance every Tuesday and during lunchtime from 12 PM to 1 PM. It will not be open in case of inclement weather such as rain, typhoons, or thunderstorms. Given the increasing demand for water recreation activities, the Taichung City Government's Tourism Bureau has conducted a comprehensive assessment of the coastal waters near Daan Beach to ensure the safe engagement of the public in such activities. After the assessment and planning, surfing and beach activities have been open to the public since August 1, 2013, including water play at the beach, surfing, and kitesurfing. For safety reasons, please refrain from swimming in the coastal water near Daan Coastal Recreation Area due to unstable levels of E. coli. Nearby Daan Coastal Recreation Area also features the only water pen rice field in Greater Taichung - "Mangrove Ecological Park," "Turtle Shell Ecological Park" at the south bank of the Wunliao River estuary, "Heron Forest," "Daan Water Cloak Ecological Education Park," and "Chef A-Chung's Taro Cultural Museum."
