Huludun Cultural Center Introduction
Located on East Ring Road in Fengyuan District, it has a strong artistic atmosphere and serves as a cultural and recreational hub for the citizens of Taichung City. The cultural center preserves and maintains many important local cultural assets, organizes various exhibitions of cultural relics annually, and offers guided tours by reservation to introduce the exhibits, fostering interaction between the cultural center and the public while fulfilling its educational functions. In recent years, it has also frequently hosted various interesting cultural events. Greater Taichung is vast, with diverse ethnic groups and rich cultural heritage, producing many artistic talents. This center was formerly known as the "Taichung Municipal Cultural Center," established in response to the central government's policy to include cultural construction as one of the 12 important projects. Cultural centers were set up in every county and city, with planning beginning at the end of 1978, construction started in August 1980, and completed by the end of December 1982, officially opening on New Year's Day 1983, thus ushering in a new era for cultural construction in Taichung City. Since its establishment, it has showcased local characteristics, promoted indigenous culture, advocated for a reading culture, and built a society rich in literary culture, hosting cultural and artistic activities to elevate public appreciation levels, organizing weekend performance plaza activities to provide legitimate recreational opportunities, establishing a volunteer system to broaden participation, and conducting cultural and artistic study activities to cultivate artistic talent. In 1990, a Weaving Craft Museum was established to focus on preserving and researching weaving techniques, organizing weaving exhibitions, rewarding and nurturing weaving talents, holding a national weaving craft award every two years, conducting international exchange activities, and organizing events like the "Asia-Pacific Weaving Art Festival," "Taiwan vs. Okinawa," and "Kimono Donation Exhibition," accumulating capabilities and experience in cultural diplomacy. On December 25, 2010, Taichung City was upgraded to a direct-controlled municipality, and the center was renamed "Huludun Cultural Center" based on the old name of Fengyuan, directly under the jurisdiction of the Taichung City Government's Cultural Affairs Bureau, and it is the most important cultural institution in the mountainous area of Greater Taichung.
