Taichung Line Earthquake Recovery Memorial Introduction
If you take the train along the mountain line and pass by Tai'an Station, pay attention to the window, and you will notice a "bomb-shaped" building standing by the railway. It is the "Taichung Line Earthquake Recovery Memorial." This memorial was established to commemorate the strong earthquake that occurred at dawn on April 21, 1935, during the Showa era (10th year of Japanese rule), in the middle reaches of the Daan River. This earthquake brought unprecedented disaster to the then government-run Taichung Coastal Railway.
