If you take the train along the mountain line and pass by Tai'an Station, be sure to notice a "bullet-shaped" structure standing by the railway, which is the Taichung Line Earthquake Reconstruction Memorial. This memorial was erected to commemorate the strong earthquake that occurred at dawn on April 21, 1935 (Showa Year 10) in the middle of the Daan River. This earthquake brought unprecedented disaster to the then government-operated Taiwan Railways Taichung Coastal Line.
