Taichung Line Earthquake Memorial Introduction
If you take the train along the mountain line and pass by the Tai'an Station, look out the window and you will notice a "bullet-shaped" structure standing by the railway. This is the "Taichung Line Earthquake Reconstruction Memorial Monument." This monument was established to commemorate the strong earthquake that occurred in the early morning of April 21, 1935, during the Japanese colonial period (Showa 10), which struck the middle reaches of the Daan River. This earthquake brought unprecedented calamity to the then state-owned Taichung Coastal Railway.
