If you take the train through Tai'an Station along the mountain line, pay attention to the window, and you will notice a "bullet-shaped" structure standing by the railway. It is the "Taichung Line Earthquake Reconstruction Monument." This monument was established to commemorate the strong earthquake that occurred at dawn on April 21, 1935, during the Japanese occupation, in the middle reaches of the Daan River. This earthquake brought unprecedented calamity to the then state-run Taiwan Railways Taichung Coastal Line.

This earthquake brought unprecedented calamity to the then state-owned Taichung Coastal Railway.
