Dakeng No. 5 and No. 5-1 Trails Introduction
Due to continuous rainfall, the section from 0K+750 to 0K+820 will be closed until November 30, 2025. During the closure, entry is prohibited to avoid danger. Dakeng Scenic Area - Hiking Trail Guide Dakeng Scenic Area is an important recreational spot for Taichung citizens to find spiritual solace, as well as a place for hikers to enjoy fitness activities. It is also a popular tourist attraction in central Taiwan. On regular days or holidays, you can often see groups of enthusiasts and families enjoying the scenery, making it a shared backyard for the people of Taichung. The most distinctive feature of this area is its 14 hiking trails. Trails No. 1 to 8 were opened in the early 1980s, built according to the natural terrain of Dakeng Mountain and the streams that intertwine, with the highest elevation reaching 859 meters at Mt. Touko. Trail No. 9 was established in December 2005, Trail No. 10 was completed in March 2008, and Trail No. 9-1 was completed in November 2013. Trail No. 5 and Trail No. 5-1 have lengths of approximately 1.4 kilometers and 1.6 kilometers, respectively, and reach the highest elevation, making them suitable for hiking enthusiasts. The trailhead is located by heading straight from Zhongxingling towards Xiezhong Street (Mushroom Street) for about 1.5 kilometers to the location of No. 257-1 on Xiezhong Street. Turn right at the sign to reach the trailhead. 特色: This trail connects to the endpoints of Trails No. 1 to 4. Along the way, there are scenic viewpoints with good visibility, including Heisong Pavilion, Gaofeng Pavilion, and the summit of Mt. Touko. On clear days, you can enjoy views of Taichung City and Dadu Plateau.
