Dakeng Trail No. 5 and No. 5-1 Introduction
Due to continuous rainfall, the section from 0K+750 to 0K+820 will be closed until November 30, 2025. Entry is prohibited during the closure to prevent danger. The Dakeng Scenic Area is an important leisure spot for Taichung citizens to find peace, and it is also a place for hikers to exercise and enjoy nature, making it a popular tourist destination in central Taiwan. It is common to see friends and families visiting on regular or holiday weekends, turning it into a communal backyard for the people of Taichung. The most distinctive features are the 14 hiking trails, with Trails No. 1 to 8 opened in 1981, built according to the natural terrain of intersecting mountains and streams, reaching a maximum elevation of 859 meters at Touke Mountain. Trail No. 9 was developed in December 2005, and Trail No. 10 was completed in March 2008, while Trail No. 9-1 was finished in November 2013. The lengths of Trails No. 5 and No. 5-1 are approximately 1.4 kilometers and 1.6 kilometers respectively, making them suitable for visitors who enjoy hiking. Trailhead: From Zhongxingling, continue straight towards Xiezhong Street (Mushroom Street) for about 1.5 kilometers to the location at No. 257-1, Xiezhong Street. Turn right at the sign to reach the trailhead. Feature: This trail connects the endpoints of Trails No. 1 to 4. Along the way, there are viewpoints with great visibility, including Heisong Pavilion, Gao Feng Pavilion, and the peak of Touke Mountain. If visibility is good, you can see Taichung City and the Dadu Plateau.
