The 5th Trail, extending north-south, traverses along the ridge, passing through Erge Mountain and Touge Mountain, connecting to Trails 1 to 4. With an elevation ranging from 595 to 859 meters, this trail follows the mountain ridge and offers multiple viewpoints with excellent vistas. Along the trail, there are many pavilions and observation decks for visitors to rest, allowing them to overlook the bustling urban area of Taichung and the distant Dadu Mountain Range. It is common to see people bringing tea-making equipment, enjoying tea and conversations amidst the vast sea of clouds, truly a delightful experience! Another branch of the 5th Trail (Route 5-1) starts at the diagonal lane of Xiezhong Street in the Xinshe District and ends at the Black Pine Pavilion on the 5th Trail, passing by the Chengzhong Pavilion on Erge Mountain and the 90th Anniversary Memorial of Jiannwu in Taichung City. This trail is the perfect place for beginners to learn about ecology, with several plant information signs set up along the way, making it suitable for families to hike together.

Dakeng Scenic Area - Mountain Trail Guide Dakeng Scenic Area is an important recreational site for the citizens of Taichung, offering a peaceful retreat for the mind. It is also a popular destination for hikers and fitness enthusiasts, making it one of the most sought-after tourist attractions in central Taiwan. On regular days or holidays, you can often see groups of friends and families enjoying their time together, making it a shared garden for the people of Taichung. The most distinctive features of this area are the 13 mountain trails. Trails 1 to 8 were established in the early 1980s, developed based on the area's natural topography, which is characterized by the interlacing of Dakeng Mountain and streams, with the highest elevation reaching 859 meters at Head Mountain (Tou Ke Shan). Trail 9 was opened in December 2005, Trail 10 was completed in March 2008, and Trail 9-1 was finished in November 2013. Trails 5 and 5-1 have lengths of approximately 1.4 kilometers and 1.6 kilometers, respectively. They have the highest elevation and are suitable for those with good physical fitness who enjoy climbing. The trailhead can be reached by going straight from Zhongxing Ridge towards Xiezhong Street (Mushroom Street) for about 1.5 kilometers, turning right at the sign into a small alley towards the trailhead. Features: This trail connects to the endpoints of Trails 1 to 4. Along the way, there are several scenic viewpoints, including Heisong Pavilion, Gaofeng Pavilion, and the summit of Head Mountain. On clear days, you can enjoy views of Taichung city and Dadu Plateau. Transportation Methods:Taichung Bus (Taichung Station 04-22224102): Routes 15, 16 (board at Luyuan East Station) can also reach Chung Tai University; alternatively, at the intersection of Dongshan Road and Songzhu Road, you can take Taichung Bus Route 66 (Route 66 will loop around Dakeng). 2. Renyou Bus (04-22255166): Routes 1, 20, 21, 31 (board at Luyuan East Station, it is recommended to take Renyou Bus as there are more buses). 3. Fengyuan Bus (Taichung North Station 04-22223435): Bus routes heading towards Zhongxingling, Neihu, Dongshi, etc.


Remarks:1. It is advised that seniors and individuals with high blood pressure avoid climbing Trails 1 to 5 and Trail 5-1 at Dakeng. 2. Trail 4 at Dakeng has a significant elevation change, with a steep vertical drop of 300 meters in one section. 3. Generally, Trails 6, 7, 8, 9, and 9-1 at Dakeng are more suitable for both men and women.
