Dakeng Scenic Area - Mountain Trail Guide Dakeng Scenic Area is an important recreational site for the citizens of Taichung, offering a peaceful retreat for the mind. It is also a popular destination for hikers and fitness enthusiasts, making it one of the most sought-after tourist attractions in central Taiwan. On regular days or holidays, you can often see groups of friends and families enjoying their time together, making it a shared garden for the people of Taichung. The most distinctive features of this area are the 13 mountain trails. Trails 1 to 8 were established in the early 1980s, developed based on the area's natural topography, which is characterized by the interlacing of Dakeng Mountain and streams, with the highest elevation reaching 859 meters at Head Mountain (Tou Ke Shan). Trail 9 was opened in December 2005, Trail 10 was completed in March 2008, and Trail 9-1 was finished in November 2013. Trails 5 and 5-1 have lengths of approximately 1.4 kilometers and 1.6 kilometers, respectively. They have the highest elevation and are suitable for those with good physical fitness who enjoy climbing. The trailhead can be reached by going straight from Zhongxing Ridge towards Xiezhong Street (Mushroom Street) for about 1.5 kilometers, turning right at the sign into a small alley towards the trailhead. Features: This trail connects to the endpoints of Trails 1 to 4. Along the way, there are several scenic viewpoints, including Heisong Pavilion, Gaofeng Pavilion, and the summit of Head Mountain. On clear days, you can enjoy views of Taichung city and Dadu Plateau.
