The No. 3 Trail has an elevation range between 415 and 795 meters, most of which follows the mountain ridge. This trail offers wide vistas, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of seasonal changes among the mountains and observe various wild animals such as birds and red-bellied squirrels, making it particularly suitable for birdwatching enthusiasts. Visitors are advised to bring sunscreen to ensure a comfortable walking experience. The whole trail takes about 2 hours to complete, and it connects with the No. 5 Trail at the end, perfectly concluding this natural journey.

Dakeng No. 3 Trail (Closed) Introduction

Due to the heavy rain brought by Typhoon Danas and the southwest airflow on July 28 this year, post-disaster reconstruction work will take place. To avoid danger, this hiking trail has been closed, and we kindly ask the public to refrain from visiting during the renovation period. We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Dakeng Scenic Area - Hiking Trail Overview Dakeng Scenic Area is an important recreational space for the residents of Taichung City, as well as a place for hikers to enjoy fitness activities, making it a popular tourist destination in the central region. Whether on regular days or holidays, it is common to see enthusiasts and families visiting together, making it a shared backyard for the residents of Taichung City. The area features 14 hiking trails, with Trails No. 1 to 8 opened in 1981, constructed based on the natural terrain of Dakeng Mountain and its streams, with the highest elevation reaching 859 meters at Toukeng Mountain. Trail No. 9 was opened in December 2005, Trail No. 10 was completed in March 2008, and Trail No. 9-1 was completed in November 2013. Trail No. 3 is approximately 1.3 kilometers long and is suitable for ecological education. Trailhead: You can turn right at the Dakeng Roundabout onto Hengkeng Lane, then left onto Liankeng Lane, and continue upwards past the parking lot to reach the trailhead. Features: This trail is rich in natural ecological education resources, including various species of birds, plants, animals, and insects. Along the way, there are various plant interpretation signs to help the public understand and learn about them. Transportation Methods：Taichung Bus (Taichung Station 04-22224102): Routes 15 and 16 (boarding at the Lùguān Dōng Station) can also reach Chung Tai University; additionally, you can take Taichung Bus Route 66 at the Jīng Bǔ Kù parking lot at the intersection of Dongshan Road and Songzhu Road (Route 66 will loop in Dà Kēng). 2. Rinyou Bus (04-22255166): Routes 1, 20, 21, and 31 (boarding at the Lùguān Dōng Station, recommended to take Rinyou due to more frequent service). 3. Fengyuan Bus (Taichung North Station 04-22223435): Bus routes heading towards Zhongxingling, Xinshe, and Dongshi, etc.

Remarks：1. It is advised that seniors and those with hypertension avoid climbing the Dakeng Trails No. 1 to 5 and No. 5-1. 2. The Dakeng Trail No. 4 has a very steep drop, with a section that is a 300-meter vertical slope. 3. Generally, the Dakeng Trails No. 6, 7, 8, 9, and 9-1 are more suitable for both men and women.
