The planning of Trail No. 10 connects with Trail No. 9 to form a hiking loop network, allowing hiking enthusiasts to experience different scenic views along the way. The endpoints of Trails No. 9 and No. 10 – the junction – lead to the Guanyin Pavilion Rest Area and connect with Trail No. 6, creating a hiking network for a day trip.

Dakeng No. 10 Hiking Trail (Closed) Introduction

Due to the heavy rains brought by Typhoon Danas in July this year and the southwestern air current on July 28, reconstruction work will be carried out. To avoid danger, the entire hiking trail has been closed, and the completion is expected in August 2026. During the renovation period, the public is advised not to visit, and we apologize for the inconvenience. Dakeng Scenic Area - Hiking Trail Guide Dakeng Scenic Area is an important recreational spot for Taichung residents to find peace of mind, as well as a place for hikers to enjoy outdoor fitness. It is also a popular tourist destination in central Taiwan. On regular days or weekends, you can often see groups of enthusiasts and families enjoying the area, making it a shared backyard for the citizens of Taichung. The most distinctive feature of the area is the 14 hiking trails, with trails No. 1 to 8 being established since 1981, built according to the natural terrain created by the intertwining of Dakeng Mountain and streams, with the highest elevation reaching 859 meters at Touke Mountain. Trail No. 9 was opened in December 2005, and Trail No. 10 was completed in March 2008. Trail No. 9-1 was completed in November 2013. Trail No. 10 is approximately 1.2 kilometers long, suitable for outdoor teaching and family outings. Trailhead: Walk straight along Jingbu Road opposite the Jingbu Parking Lot until you reach the opposite side of Jiujiu Bridge. Features: This trail includes five areas: Bamboo Forest Trail, Acacia Forest Trail, Bougainvillea Flower Zone, Taro Ecology Zone, and Cliff Peaks, rich in ecology, with explanatory signs installed at each. The path consists of wooden planks, gravel trails, natural earth paths, and wooden stairways, with viewing pavilions and platforms for resting. Transportation Methods:1. Taichung Bus (Taichung Station 04-22224102): Routes 15, 16 (Board at Green River East Station) can also reach Chung Tai University; additionally, you can take Taichung Bus Route 66 from the Jingbuku Parking Lot at the intersection of Dongshan Road and Songzhu Road (Route 66 will detour in Dakeng). 2. Renyou Bus (04-22255166): Routes 1, 20, 21, 31 (Board at Green River East Station, recommended to take Renyou as there are more buses). 3. Fengyuan Bus (Taichung North Station 04-22223435): Buses heading towards Zhongxingling, Xinshe, Dongshi, etc.


Remarks:Travel Tips 1. It is advised that the elderly and those with hypertension avoid climbing the Dakeng Trails No. 1 to 5 and No. 5-1. 2.
