Tun District Art and Culture Center Introduction
Taichung City Tun District Arts and Cultural Center, one of the 12 flagship projects of the former Taichung County Government, aims to balance the cultural development of the mountainous and coastal Tun District. It carries the responsibility of promoting arts and culture in the region and envisions shaping a "Cultural Capital" for Greater Taichung. The Taichung City Tun District Arts and Cultural Center (originally named Taichung County Tun District Arts and Cultural Center) was officially established in July 2010. After the merger of the county and city on December 25, 2010, it was renamed the Taichung City Tun District Arts and Cultural Center, and later, due to organizational restructuring, it was renamed to its current title on January 1, 2013. Focusing on performing arts and music, the center also serves functions such as art exhibitions and cultural promotion. In the future, it will actively host various art and cultural events from the perspective of arts education, integrating teaching, community life, and promoting international cultural and artistic exchanges. Covering nearly 5 hectares with a total floor area of 6,700 ping, the building consists of three above-ground floors and one basement level, designed with the concepts of "Tai Chi, Middle Path" and "Art, Simplicity, Architecture." The main multi-functional auditorium has 1,150 seats, while the experimental theater has 200 seats. The indoor spaces include an exhibition hall: basement level (Exhibition Room B), first floor (Exhibition Room A, Aesthetic Space), second floor (Aesthetic Collection Room, Parent-Child Reading Room), and third floor (Large Conference Room with 198 seats). The performance venue includes an auditorium (1,150 seats) and an experimental theater (200 seats), with the experimental theater being a black open space, also known as a "Black Box" theater. The suspended system above the theater uses tension steel cables, allowing for the hanging of set and lighting anywhere. Performers can also arrange the stage and audience seating according to their own concepts, making it suitable for experimental productions, drama, dance, concerts, and more. The auditorium is designed as a proscenium stage, divided into five parts: the main stage, left stage, right stage, back stage, and orchestra pit. There are two personal dressing rooms next to the right stage, with five personal dressing rooms, three medium-sized dressing rooms, one large dressing room, and one rehearsal room on the second floor. The auditorium seats a total of 1,150, making it a versatile venue for music, dance, drama, and other performance types. The outdoor plaza serves as the best location for hosting outdoor performances, featuring an outdoor theater, Cassia tree area, and Lanting Plaza. In the afternoon, families can enjoy wonderful performances and leisurely stroll through the park, spending quality time during their holidays.
