Taiping Farm Museum Introduction
The Taiping Ancient Farm Museum opened on October 17, 2010, located within the Chelongpu Dingping Park. It showcases ancient artifacts from Taiwan, which were collected throughout the life of Mr. Chang You-ji, the owner of the farm. In order to preserve the increasingly fading Taiwanese culture and to help the public understand the wisdom of our ancestors, he made the painful decision to donate his collection to the Taiping District Office of Taichung City. The museum adopts a traditional three-part courtyard farm house style, with ten themed exhibition areas. The main section features an ancestral worship hall, while the side halls include a bedroom, a bridal dowry and baby supplies room, and a kitchen display area. The side corridors display various themed items such as clothing, cups, dishes, electrical appliances, and agricultural tools. The entrance to the corridor features a pharmacy and a small grocery store selling goods, and due to the large number of ancient artifacts, they are exhibited on a rotating basis. The Taiping Ancient Farm Museum provides the public with a place to reminisce about past folk customs and local feelings. The park is planted with dozens of maple trees that can grow up to 15 meters tall, changing their appearance with the seasons, creating a picturesque scene intertwined with the charming ancient museum. For someone who grew up in a farming family, the memories of rural life are unforgettable, especially during the 1920s and 1930s in Taiwan, where the hard and laborious days of large families were filled with struggles. Ancestors worked tirelessly for the livelihood of every family member, rising with the sun, seeking only to fill their stomachs three times a day. It is evident that the quality of life during the agricultural era cannot be compared to the rapidly changing technological advancements of today.
