Mr. Chang You-Ji, the owner, unconditionally donated his lifelong collection of ancient artifacts to the Taiping District Office in Taichung City, in order to help the public understand the wisdom of their ancestors and preserve the gradually declining culture of Taiwan. The ancient and elegant museum, combined with the vibrant colors of the sweet gum leaves that change with the seasons, creates a splendid scenery, providing the public a place to reminisce about the folk customs and local sentiments of the past.

Taipei Ancient Confucian Temple Museum Introduction

The Taiping Old Farm Museum was opened on October 17, 2010, and is located within the Che Long Pu Ding Ping Park. The museum displays ancient Taiwanese artifacts collected throughout the lifetime of Mr. Chang You-ji, the owner, who donated them to the Taiping District Office in Taichung City to preserve the gradually diminishing Taiwanese culture and to help the public understand the wisdom of their ancestors. The museum is built in the style of a three-hall courtyard house and is divided into ten themed exhibition areas. The main part features an ancestral hall, while the side halls are used as a bedroom, a room for bridal dowries and baby supplies, and a kitchen display area. The left and right corridors showcase various exhibits themed around clothing, utensils, electrical appliances, and agricultural tools. At the entrance of the corridor area, there are plans for a pharmacy and a grocery store for sales. Due to the vast number of ancient artifacts, exhibitions are held in a rotating manner. The Taiping Old Farm Museum provides the public with a place to reminisce about ancient folk customs and rural sentiments. The park is planted with dozens of maple trees that can reach fifteen meters tall, changing with the seasons and forming different sceneries, creating a picturesque scene with the quaint museum. For someone raised in a farming village, the little aspects of farm life are often hard to forget, especially in the Taiwanese society of the 1920s and 30s, where families endured hard times and toiled day and night, seeking only to fill their stomachs three times a day without complaint. It's clear that the quality of life in the agricultural era cannot be compared to our modern times of rapid technological advancement.
