Taichung Museum of Fine Arts Introduction
The Taichung City Museum of Fine Arts is located on the north side of the second floor of the Port District Art Center Exhibition Hall, with an area of approximately 340 square meters. Established in 1999 and officially opened in 2001, the museum aims to serve as a cultural base for documenting the development of art in Greater Taichung by collecting and recording works, audio-visual materials, and documents of both past and contemporary Taiwanese artists. Over the past 20 years, the museum has continuously collected and displayed relevant materials about artists in Greater Taichung, helping the public understand the context of art development in the area, as well as the relationships, careers, and achievements of the artists. Since 2020, the main space of the museum has been transformed into a children's art education space, with the following new areas: - Art Golden House: This section focuses on art-related books. Starting in 2020, it has incorporated the "Mobile Museum of Fine Arts" project (now renamed the "Art PaPaGO!" project) with art experience courses aimed at cultivating children's appreciation of beauty. - Art Experience Classroom: This area includes a "Group Painting Creation Area," "Game Installation Area," "Aesthetic Teaching Wall," and "Art Puzzle Performance Area," providing spaces for school and family use. - Picture Book Story House: This area has collected over 200 children's picture books through donations of new books and purchases of used books, available for reading by visiting families or for use in art experience courses. - In 2022, a "Resident Artist Works Display Area" was added, inviting registered artists to showcase selected works and conduct art experience courses to attract more local schools and families to visit. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-17:30 (closed on Mondays, traditional festivals, and during the Lunar New Year). Address: No. 21, Zhongzheng Road, Qingshui District, Taichung City.
