Taichung City Museum of Fine Arts Introduction

The Taichung City Museum of Fine Arts is located on the north side of the second floor of the Harbor District Art Center Exhibition Hall, with an area of approximately 340 square meters. It has been in preparation since 1999 and officially opened in 2001. By collecting and documenting works, images, audio-visual materials, and literature of Taiwan's senior and contemporary artists, the museum aims to become a cultural base for recording the art development history of Greater Taichung in the coastal area. Over the past 20 years, the museum has continuously collected and displayed related graphic and textual materials of Greater Taichung artists, promoting public awareness of the development context of local art, as well as the relationships, careers, and achievements of the artists. Starting in 2020, the main space of the museum has been transformed into a children's art education space, with the following new areas: Art Gold House: This area primarily houses books related to art, and starting in 2020, it has combined with the "Mobile Museum of Artists" project (now renamed the "Art PaPaGO!" project) to offer art experience courses aimed at cultivating children's appreciation of "beauty." Art Experience Classroom: This area includes a "Group Painting Creation Area," "Game Installation Area," "Aesthetic Teaching Wall," and "Art Puzzle Performance Area," providing facilities for school faculty and students or families visiting the museum. Picture Book Story House: This area has collected over 200 children's picture books through donations of new books and the purchase of second-hand books, providing these for reading at the museum by visiting families or as part of the art experience courses. Starting in 2022, a new "Exhibition Area for Resident Artists' Works" was added, inviting registered artists of the museum to showcase selected works and provide art experience courses to attract more local schools and families to the museum for classes. Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00-17:30 (closed on Mondays and during traditional holiday festivals, including Lunar New Year). Address: No. 21, Zhongzheng Rd., Qingshui Dist., Taichung City.
