Qingshui Military Village Cultural Park Introduction
Located opposite the Taichung City Maritime Museum, the "Taichung Qingshui Military Village Cultural Park" is the former Xiuying New Village, which was originally a military dependents' village used by the Air Force. It is one of 13 "Cultural Preservation Zones for Old Military Dependents' Villages" approved by the Ministry of National Defense. The park spans 6.25 hectares, with the Zhongshe archaeological site beneath the surface. The above-ground structures are part of the "settlement architectural group," preserving the organically "grown" buildings of the military dependents' village. In addition to retaining various types of military officer residences, the park also maintains green spaces and rice field landscapes. Opposite the park, there is a newly renovated military dependents' building that encompasses various forms of military village architecture. Walking through the undulating rooftops and narrow alleys feels like traversing a time tunnel, adding an intellectual and enjoyable aspect to cultural tourism. In recent years, the park has been gradually restored in phases. Once completed, the restoration will continue the living context of the military village, integrating characteristics of military villages, art, and archaeological sites to convey and present the historical and emotional memories associated with this space, thus creating a new appearance and culture for the military village.
