The "Taichung Qing Shui Military Village Cultural Park," located opposite the Taichung Harbor Art Center, was originally the Xinyi New Village of the Air Force. It is one of the 13 "Cultural Preservation Zones for Old Military Villages" designated by the Ministry of National Defense. The park covers an area of 6.25 hectares, with archaeological sites beneath the ground and a "settlement architectural group" above. It preserves the organically "grown" architecture of the military village, retaining various types of military officers' residences, as well as landscaped greenery and rice field views. Opposite the park is a renovated military housing building, embodying various forms of military village types. Walking along the undulating rooftops and narrow alleyways feels like traversing a time tunnel, adding intellectual and enjoyable elements to cultural tourism. In recent years, the park has been undergoing phased restoration, which will continue the context of the military village's living space. The park will be nourished by the unique elements of the military village, art, and archaeological sites, translating and presenting the historical and emotional memories of the space, thus recreating a new appearance and culture for the military village.
