The "Taichung Qingshui Military Dependents Village Cultural Park," located across from the Taichung Harbor Arts Center, is the former Xiangyi New Village of the Air Force's military dependents and is one of the 13 "Cultural Preservation Areas for Old Military Dependents Villages" approved by the Ministry of National Defense. The park covers an area of 6.25 hectares, with the Zhongsha Archaeological Site beneath the ground. The above-ground structures form a "settlement architecture group," preserving the organically "grown" buildings of the dependents' village. In addition to preserving various types of military officers' residences, it also retains botanical plantings and rice field landscapes, and across the street, there is a renovated military dependents building that showcases various forms of dependents' village types. Walking along the undulating rooftops and narrow alleys feels like traversing through a time tunnel, enhancing the cultural and intellectual appeal of tourism. In recent years, the park has been continuously restored in phases, and after restoration, it will continue the contextual living environment of the dependents' village, incorporating elements of the village, art, and archaeological sites to nurture this area. It will translate and present the historical and emotional memories that occurred in this space, recreating a new appearance and culture for the dependents' village.

Qingshui Military Village Cultural Park Introduction

The "Taichung Qingshui Military Village Cultural Park," located opposite the Taichung Port Art Center, was originally the Xinyi New Village for the Air Force. It is one of the 13 "Cultural Preservation Areas of Old Military Villages" approved by the Ministry of National Defense. The park covers an area of 6.25 hectares, with archaeological sites below ground from the Zhongshe site, while the above-ground structures are a "settlement architectural group" that preserves the organic development of the military village's buildings. In addition to preserving various types of officer residences, it also retains plantings and rice field landscapes. Across the street, there is a renovated military housing building that collects various types of military village forms. Walking along the undulating rooftops and narrow alleys feels like traversing a time tunnel, enhancing the cultural tourism experience's intellect and enjoyment. In recent years, the park has been gradually restored in phases. After restoration, it will continue the life context of the military village and incorporate elements of military village culture, art, and archaeological sites to continuously nourish the area, translating and presenting the historical and emotional memories that once took place in this space, thus recreating a new appearance and culture for the military village.
