The "Taichung Qingshui Military Dependents' Cultural Park," located opposite the Taichung Port Art Center, was originally the Xinyi New Village for the Air Force dependents. It is one of the 13 "Cultural Preservation Areas of Old Military Dependents' Villages" approved by the Ministry of National Defense. The park covers an area of 6.25 hectares, with archaeological remains beneath the ground and a "Settlement Architectural Group" above ground, preserving the organically "grown" structures of the dependents' village. In addition to retaining various types of military officer housing, the park also preserves greenery and rice field landscapes, with a newly renovated military dependent building across the street, showcasing various styles of dependents' villages. Walking along the undulating rooftops and narrow alleys feels like traversing a time tunnel, adding intellectual and interesting elements to cultural tourism. In recent years, the park has been gradually restored in phases, ensuring the continuation of the living context of the dependents' village. It will continuously infuse the park with characteristics of the dependents' village, art, and archaeological sites, translating and presenting the historical and emotional memories that once occurred in this space, thereby recreating a new landscape and culture for the dependents' village.
