Qingshui Military Village Cultural Park Introduction
The "Taichung Qing Shui Military Village Cultural Park," located opposite the Taichung City Port District Art Center, is the former Air Force dependents' village, Xinyi New Village, and is one of the 13 "Cultural Preservation Areas of Old Military Dependents' Villages" designated by the Ministry of National Defense. The park spans 6.25 hectares, with archaeological sites from the Zhongshe period beneath the ground and a "settlement building complex" above. It preserves the organically "grown" architecture of the military village, retaining various types of military officers' residences, as well as landscaped greenery and rice field views. Opposite the park, there is a completed renovation of military dependents' buildings, showcasing various forms of military villages. Walking along the undulating rooftops and narrow alleys feels like traversing a time tunnel, adding an intellectual and enjoyable aspect to cultural tourism. In recent years, the park has been gradually restored in phases, with the goal of continuing the context of life within the military village. By incorporating elements of military village, art, and archaeological sites, this space will reinterpret and present the historical and emotional memories that once occurred here, recreating a new look and culture for the military village.
