Gaomei Wetlands Scenic Bridge Introduction

The Gaomei Wetlands Scenic Bridge spans 120 meters across the Qing Shui Canal, with a total length of 265 meters and a width of 7.2 meters for the double-arched bridge deck, along with approach paths totaling 132 meters in length. The bridge was initially designed to integrate the scenic features of sunset, wetlands, and wind power turbines, while also connecting to the local history and culture of bamboo rafts. It cost over 200 million NT dollars and took nearly two years to construct, resulting in a unique bridge type that is a first in the country. To avoid impacting the local ecological environment, the bridge does not have piers in the river and employs a low-insect-attraction lighting system. During the construction period, ecological environmental monitoring was conducted with good results. Additionally, wind tunnel tests confirmed that the bridge has excellent wind resistance behavior, ensuring the structural safety of the bridge. The Gaomei Wetlands Scenic Bridge, along with a complete network of bike paths and recreational viewing areas, is expected to further enhance the quality of tourism along the coastal area.
