Dayeh Barley Field Introduction
Every March, when the wheat ripens, the wheat fields in Daya, Taichung, shine with vast expanses of gold. As the gentle breeze blows, the wheat heads bow down and then stand tall again, creating waves of wheat that sway like the sea, forming a charming and well-known landscape in Taichung City. Daya accounts for 90% of Taiwan's wheat production, and the cultural festival held each year also focuses on wheat as its marketing theme. In addition to the wind blowing through the wheat, various sizes of art installations are designed on-site. Since the cultural festival coincides with Valentine's Day, many of the art exhibits are related to love, making the Daya wheat fields an unexpectedly popular dating spot for couples. If you are lucky, you might capture photos of the three stages of wheat maturity: one side is still lush green, while a few hundred meters away, golden fields of wheat have already emerged, allowing for a magical experience of nature in Daya.
