Daya Barley Fields Introduction
Every March, when the wheat matures, the wheat fields in Daya District, Taichung, shine with vast expanses of golden color. As the breeze blows, the wheat spikes bow down and then stand upright again, creating a wave-like motion that is a charming and well-known landscape of Taichung City. Daya accounts for 90% of Taiwan's wheat production, and the annual cultural festival also revolves around wheat as its marketing theme. In addition to the swaying wheat fields, various art installations of different sizes are designed on-site. Since the cultural festival coincides with Valentine's Day, many of the art exhibits are related to romance, making Daya Wheat Field an unexpectedly popular date spot for couples. If lucky, you might also capture photos of the three stages of wheat maturation: one area still lush and green, while just a few hundred meters away, fields of ripe, golden wheat can be seen, experiencing the wonders of nature in Daya.
