Taichung City Library Shangfeng Branch Introduction
The Shangfeng Branch Library is Taichung City's first library themed around "environmental education." It has also won the "Architectural Golden Age Award" and the "Outstanding Award" in the Best Planning and Design category of the National Excellence Construction Award in 2019. Located next to Shangfeng Elementary School, the library features red brick walls that resonate with the nearby golden wheat fields and red maple leaves. It incorporates ecological swales, native plantings, and an open spatial design connecting internal and external circulation, seamlessly integrating into the school and community, making it a beautiful place where people and nature coexist closely. The library's outdoor area showcases a diverse ecological landscape, with plantings of forage and nectar plants that attract butterflies and bees, serving as an excellent venue for promoting environmental education. The indoor design of the library features a minimalist and understated approach to shape the spatial quality, complemented by light, neutral furniture and decor.
