Taichung City Library Shangfeng Branch Introduction
Shangfeng Branch Library is Taichung City's first library themed around "environmental education." It has also won the "Architecture and Garden Award" and the "Excellence Award" in the 108th National Excellent Construction Award for Best Planning and Design. Located next to Shangfeng Elementary School, the library features a red brick exterior that complements the nearby golden wheat fields and maple reds. It includes ecological grass ditches, native plantings, and an open spatial design that connects internal and external pathways, naturally integrating with the school and community, creating a beautiful place fostering the close interdependence of people and nature. The library's outdoor area offers a diverse landscape and ecological environment, planting herbaceous and nectar plants that attract butterflies and bees, making it an excellent venue for promoting environmental education. The indoor design is minimalist and understated, enhancing the quality of space, complemented by lightweight neutral furniture and interiors. Through the changing natural light, readers can experience the rich spaces and environments of the architecture itself.
