Pan Gong Stone Arch Introduction

The "Pan Gong Stone Arch" was originally the outer entrance of the Confucius Temple. During the Qianlong period, the magistrate Jiang Yuanshu reconstructed the Confucius Temple and rebuilt this entrance, hiring stonemasons to carve a beautiful archway, which was then transported to Tainan for assembly. Among all Confucius Temples in Taiwan, only the Tainan Confucius Temple has this feature. During the Japanese colonial period, when South Gate Road was developed, the stone arch was separated from the Confucius Temple, causing its original function to be gradually forgotten, and many people are even unaware that this is an ancillary building of the Confucius Temple.
