Tainan Art Museum (Former Tainan City Police Department / Former Tainan Police Station during Japanese rule) Introduction
Co-designed by architect Shih Chao-Yung and Pritzker Prize-winning architect Shigeru Ban, the main building was originally completed in 1931 as the Tainan Police Station, which is a designated historic site in Tainan City. It was designed by Tainan Prefectural Engineer Meizawa Tetsujiro and is an Art Deco building in an eclectic style. The museum's space beautifully blends the old and the new, showcasing works by local Tainan artists as well as important works from artists in other regions, with a focus on aesthetic education and providing diverse art activities.
