Tainan Prefectural Hall - Taiwan Literature Museum Introduction

The Taiwan Literature Museum is considered the most important landmark in the center of Tainan City. Designed by Japanese architect Matsunosuke Moriyama, it was completed in 1916 and originally served as the Tainan Prefectural Office during the Japanese colonial period, making it the highest administrative center in Tainan. This helped establish the bustling prosperity of the surrounding streets, with many important government offices located nearby. It was damaged by bombings during World War II but was restored and has retained its original appearance. After the war, it long served as the location of the Tainan City Government and is currently a vibrant hub of literary culture as the Taiwan Literature Museum.
