Waterworks Park Introduction
Walking at the intersection of Wufu Road and Guanghua Road in Lingya District, the 38-meter tall giant colorful sphere catches the eye of passersby, bringing them surprise and delight. The park occupies one hectare and was originally the site of a large water tower and water supply pipelines built in 1960, which have since been decommissioned. Due to its historical value, the city government preserved the pipelines and painted the exterior of the water tower, which has a capacity of 3,800 tons, in vibrant colors. At night, with lighting effects, it has become a beautiful landmark in Kaohsiung City. The park features seven landscape artworks, with the ground designed with curved imagery, connected by optic fiber light bands that present the map of Kaohsiung City and various colorful patterns in glass mosaics. The lush park appears like a candy house during the day, while its splendid lights at night reveal a different luxurious ambiance, transforming a formerly rigid industrial site into a new style of graceful art.
