National Museum of Science and Technology Introduction
Kaohsiung is a city with a highly developed heavy industry. In line with local industrial characteristics, the National Museum of Science and Technology, the first museum in Taiwan themed on applied science, is located in the Sanmin District of Kaohsiung. Its main mission is to collect and research technological artifacts, display technology-related themes, and promote science education. The museum occupies a vast area and is divided into the South and North buildings. An outdoor planetarium stands as a symbol of the power of science and knowledge. Entering the museum's spacious and bright exhibition halls is like stepping into a time portal of science. The thematic exhibition areas combine technology and everyday life, providing interactive experiences that introduce the impact and development of space, machinery, optoelectronics, transportation, and other sciences on human evolution. With an EasyCard, visitors can enjoy the Transportation Dream Pavilion, where they can personally drive various modes of transportation covering land, sea, and air. At the Space Exploration Pavilion, visitors can leave Earth and explore the universe. The immersive theater and 3D cinema offer an experience that engages all five senses, inspiring the public to explore, seek knowledge, and yearn for the unknown world. The educational yet entertaining National Museum of Science and Technology is a family-friendly venue that also houses many precious exhibits, including a full-size wooden model of the IDF Chengkung, Taiwan's first domestically produced fighter jet, which is a treasure of the museum and a pride of Taiwan's aviation industry.
