National Museum of Science and Technology Introduction
Kaohsiung is a city with a highly developed heavy industry. In line with the characteristics of local industries, Taiwan's first museum themed on applied sciences, the National Science and Technology Museum, is established in the Sanmin District of Kaohsiung City. Its main mission is to collect and research technological artifacts, display technology-related themes, and promote science education. The Science and Technology Museum covers a vast area, divided into the South and North Halls, with an outdoor exhibition area featuring an astrolabe, symbolizing the power of science and knowledge. Entering the museum's spacious and bright exhibition halls is like stepping into a scientific time portal, where the thematic areas combine technology and life, introducing the development and impact of science such as space, machinery, optoelectronics, and transportation … on human evolution through interactive experiences. With an EasyCard, visitors can enjoy the Transportation Dream Hall, where they can personally operate various modes of transportation covering land, sea, and air. In the Space Exploration Hall, they can fly out of Earth and explore the universe. Visitors can experience an immersive theater and a 3D cinema for an engaging sensory experience that inspires the public to explore, seek knowledge, and yearn for the unknown worlds. The educational yet entertaining National Science and Technology Museum is a place for family fun, while also housing many precious exhibits. Among them, the full-sized wooden model of Taiwan's first domestically produced fighter jet, the IDF Ching-kuo, is a prized treasure of the museum and a source of pride for Taiwan’s aviation industry.
