National Museum of Science and Technology Introduction
Kaohsiung is a city with a highly developed heavy industry. In line with the local industrial characteristics, the National Science and Technology Museum, the first museum in Taiwan focused on applied sciences, is located in the Sanmin District of Kaohsiung City. Its main missions include the collection and research of technological artifacts, the display of science-related themes, and the promotion of science education. The museum covers a vast area, divided into a Southern Pavilion and a Northern Pavilion. An astrolabe stands in the outdoor park, symbolizing the power of science and knowledge. Entering the museum's spacious and bright exhibition halls feels like stepping into a door of scientific time and space, where thematic exhibition areas combine technology and everyday life. Through interactive experiences, visitors are introduced to the development and impact of various sciences on human evolution, spanning topics such as space, machinery, optoelectronics, and transportation. With an EasyCard, visitors can explore the Transportation Dream Pavilion, personally operating different modes of transportation covering land, sea, and air. At the Space Exploration Pavilion, they can fly beyond Earth and explore the universe. The immersive theater and 3D cinema provide a multi-sensory experience that inspires the public to explore the unknown world, pursue knowledge, and yearn for discovery. The National Science and Technology Museum, which combines education and entertainment, is a family-friendly venue that also houses many precious exhibits. Among them, the full-size wooden model of the locally produced fighter jet - IDF Ching-kuo is considered the museum's treasure and stands as a pride of Taiwan's aviation industry.
