National Museum of Natural Science Introduction
Kaohsiung is a city with a highly developed heavy industry. In line with the characteristics of local industries, the National Museum of Science and Technology, the first museum in Taiwan themed on applied sciences, is located in the Sanmin District of Kaohsiung City. Its main mission is to collect and research technological relics, display technology-related themes, and promote science education. The museum covers a vast area, divided into the South Building and the North Building, and features a large armillary sphere in its outdoor park, symbolizing the power of science and knowledge. Entering the museum's spacious and bright exhibition halls feels like stepping into a scientific time portal, combining technology and life themes through interactive experiences that introduce space, machinery, optoelectronics, transportation, and other scientific advancements and their impacts on human evolution. Visitors can enjoy the Transportation Dream Pavilion using the EasyCard, personally driving various modes of transportation covering land, sea, and air; in the Space Exploration Pavilion, they can fly beyond Earth and explore the universe. At the immersive theater and 3D cinema, audiences can experience a multi-sensory adventure that sparks curiosity and a desire to explore the unknown world. The educational yet fun National Museum of Science and Technology is a great family-friendly venue, also housing many precious exhibits, including a full-sized wooden model of the first domestically produced fighter jet in Taiwan, the IDF Ching-kuo, which is regarded as the museum's treasure and a source of pride for Taiwan's aviation industry.
