Siziwan Chiang Kai-shek Residence Introduction
The Xi Zi Wan Chiang Kai-shek Residence is located on Lianhai Road in the Gushan District, set amid the lush greenery of the National Sun Yat-sen University campus. This green two-story building, constructed in 1935, was built by the Governor-General of Taiwan during the Japanese occupation to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its governance in Taiwan at a commemorative exhibition. Due to its proximity to the Xi Zi Wan beach, it once served as a warm water bathhouse for the beach. Since 1952, it has been the resting residence of the former President Chiang Kai-shek in the south. Given the historical significance of the residence, the second floor still preserves and displays artifacts related to President Chiang, while the first floor courtyard still houses the presidential vehicle from that time. However, the first-floor space has been transformed into the "Xi Wan Art Gallery," quietly narrating the vicissitudes of history and the alternations of power.
