Sizihwan Chiang Kai-shek Residence Introduction
The Siziwan Chiang Kai-shek Villa is located on Lianhai Road in the Gushan District, nestled within the lush surroundings of the National Sun Yat-sen University campus. This green, two-story building, featuring a blend of Western and Japanese architectural styles, was built in 1935 as part of a memorial exposition celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Japanese Governor-General's administration in Taiwan. Due to its proximity to the Siziwan Beach, the villa once served as a heated bathhouse affiliated with the beach. Starting in 1952, it became a rest villa for the late President Chiang Kai-shek in the south. Given the historical significance of the villa, the second floor still preserves and displays artifacts related to President Chiang, while the courtyard on the first floor houses the presidential vehicle from that era. The first floor space has been transformed into the "Sizaiwan Art Gallery," quietly narrating the tumultuous history of past eras and changes in political power.
