Shalun Fort (Sizihwan) Introduction
The trail to the bunker entrance is approximately 50 meters long and has a zigzag shape. The observation deck is built around a World War II-era machine gun bunker, showcasing great creativity, and can accommodate about 40 people. It offers a distant view of the British Consulate Cultural Park's residence on the hillside and allows for close-up views of Shoushan's scenery, as well as distant sights of the 85 Sky Tower, Kaohsiung Harbor, and Cijin Island. Additionally, one can overlook the architectural landscape of old and new buildings in the Yancheng District and feel the sea breeze of Xizi Bay, enjoying the immersion in history. The observation deck and trail are illuminated, providing a unique charm for viewing the harbor sunset in the evening. "Shaochuantou Mountain," commonly known as "Jilongzai Mountain," has an elevation of 25 meters. The Shaochuantou Mountain bunker is believed to have been built during the Japanese occupation in 1944 at the end of World War II, around the same time as the anti-aircraft artillery group along the Shuinan Trail. Due to long disuse, it had become overgrown in the mountains. The Kaohsiung City Government's Tourism Bureau has worked tirelessly to establish this military tourism site, and after two years of planning and construction, the long-buried historical relic has been brought back to life. Access can be gained from the small park opposite Alley 30 on Anchuan Street in Gushan District, and it takes less than a minute to reach by following the scenic trail leading to the British Consulate.
