Shashan Fort (Sizihwan) Introduction
The path leading to the bunker entrance is approximately 50 meters long and designed in a zigzag pattern. The observation platform surrounds a World War II-era machine gun bunker, showcasing great creativity and accommodating around 40 people. It offers a view opposite the Former British Consulate at Takao Cultural Park, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenery of Shoushan nearby, while also providing a distant view of the 85 Sky Tower, Kaohsiung Harbor, and Cijin Island. Additionally, visitors can overlook the architectural landscape of the old and new buildings in the Hamasen area, experience the sea breeze of Sizihwan, and immerse themselves in the taste of history. The observation platform and path are equipped with lighting, making it picturesque to admire the harbor sunset in the evening. Shau-Chuan-Tou Mountain, commonly known as "Jilongzi Mountain," stands at 25 meters high. It is speculated that the bunker on Shau-Chuan-Tou Mountain was built during the Japanese colonial period in 1944, around the same time as the anti-aircraft artillery near the Shihwenhou Trail. Due to long inactivity, the site had become overgrown with forest. The Kaohsiung City Government's Tourism Bureau tirelessly developed this military tourism site, which took two years of planning and construction to bring this long-forgotten historical relic back to life. Visitors can enter through a hiking trail opposite a small park on An-Chuan Street 30 in the Gushan District, proceeding along the landscape path of the Former British Consulate at Takao, reaching the destination in less than one minute.
