Baitou Mountain Fort (Xiziwan) Introduction
The trail to the fortress entrance is approximately 50 meters long and zigzag-shaped. The viewing platform is built around a World War II-era machine gun bunker, showcasing great creativity. It can accommodate about 40 people and offers a distant view of the British Consulate Cultural Park's hillside residence in Dagou, while allowing close views of Shoushan's landscape, and distant sights of the 85 Sky Tower, Kaohsiung Port, and Cijin Island. Visitors can also overlook the architectural scenery of old and new Hama Star, experience the sea breeze of Xiziwan, and immerse themselves in the flavor of history. The viewing platform and trail are equipped with lighting, offering a unique charm to enjoy the sunset over the harbor in the evening. "Shaocuantou Mountain," commonly known as "Jilongzi Mountain," has an elevation of 25 meters. The fortress at Shaocuantou Mountain is believed to have been constructed during the Japanese occupation around 1944, towards the end of the Pacific War, roughly at the same time as the anti-aircraft artillery group along the Shiyunhou Trail. Due to disuse, it had long been overgrown in the mountains. The Kaohsiung City Government's Tourism Bureau has spared no effort to develop military tourism attractions, and after 2 years of planning and construction, has finally brought the dust-covered historical relics back to life. The trail can be accessed from the small park opposite Alley 30 on Anchuan Street in Gushan District, and by following the scenic walkway of the British Consulate in Dagou, it takes less than a minute to arrive.
