Shalun Fort (Sizihwan) Introduction
The path leading to the bunker entrance is approximately 50 meters long and zigzag-shaped. The viewing platform is built around a machine gun bunker left over from World War II, which is highly creative and can accommodate around 40 people. It offers a distant view of the British Consulate Cultural Park on the hillside and allows for an appreciation of Shoushan's scenery nearby, while also offering views of the 85 Sky Tower, Kaohsiung Port, and Cijin Island in the distance. Visitors can overlook the architectural landscape of the old and new in the Hama Star area, feel the sea breeze from Xizi Bay, and immerse themselves in the taste of history. The viewing platform and path are illuminated, making it a perfect spot to enjoy the sunset over the harbor in the evening, which offers a unique charm. The "Shau-chuan-tou Mountain," commonly known as "Ji Long Zi Mountain," has an elevation of 25 meters. The bunker on Shau-chuan-tou Mountain is believed to have been constructed during the Japanese occupation in 1944, towards the end of the Pacific War, roughly at the same time the anti-aircraft artillery group along the Shihmen Bridge trail was built. Due to being unused for a long time, it had become overgrown in the forest. The Kaohsiung City Government's Tourism Bureau has tirelessly developed this military tourism site, and after two years of planning and construction, has finally revealed the long-buried historical relics. You can enter via a hiking trail opposite a small park on Alley 30, Anchuan Street in Gushan District, and follow the scenic path to the British Consulate Residence, reaching it in less than a minute.
