Banping Mountain Natural Park Introduction

Zuoying boasts beautiful mountains and waters, with Banping Mountain being a unique hill made of coral limestone rich in marine biological fossils. The entrance is divided into east and west sides, with the west side featuring a prominent "Banping Mountain Hiking Trail" archway, equipped with walking paths and pavilions. Since the Qing Dynasty, it has been well-known and is regarded as one of the famous attractions in Kaohsiung, alongside Lotus Pond, making it an excellent place for hiking and ecological observation. The east side was originally a cement mining site, which has now ceased operations and is undergoing soil and water conservation maintenance. The name and appearance of Banping Mountain have also been shaped by the excessive mining in the past. Since the termination of mining on July 10, 1998, over 20,000 woody plants of approximately 340 different species have been planted.
