Jiu Fan Pi Wetland Park Introduction

Jiufan Pond was originally a public irrigation pond to provide water for agriculture. After agricultural decline and the obstruction of highways, it was once abandoned and faced the fate of being illegally dumped with construction waste. Through the efforts of environmental groups and local enthusiasts, the original waterways were cleared and restored, introducing the concept of a wetland nature park. Facilities such as walking paths, water areas, educational zones, sedimentation areas, and natural forest areas were planned. It not only provides a habitat for natural organisms but also serves as a flood control measure and a tranquil retreat for citizens to connect with nature. Jiufan Pond currently retains an A-shaped reinforced concrete structure, which was an important tool for early timber companies to transport logs to lumber storage pools, holding significant historical value and serving as a distinctive landmark of the area. Today, the wetland parks connecting north and south Kaohsiung have taken shape like a string of pearls, with reflections of light and clouds on the lush green waterside, and the sounds of insects and singing birds create a vibrant, beautiful corner that has become one of the most comfortable and pleasant spots in the city.
