Jiu Fan Pi Wetland Park Introduction
Jiufan Pond was originally a public irrigation pond providing water sources for agriculture. After periods of agricultural decline and the obstruction of highways, it fell into disrepair and was subjected to illegal dumping. Through the efforts of environmental groups and local enthusiasts, the original waterways were restored, and the concept of a wetland nature park was introduced, with the planning of walking paths, waterfront areas, educational zones, sedimentation areas, and natural forest regions. This not only provides a habitat for wildlife but also serves as a flood control measure and a haven for citizens to connect with nature. Jiufan Pond currently features an A-shaped reinforced concrete structure, which was an important tool for early lumber companies to transport logs to the storage ponds, carrying significant historical value and being a distinctive landmark in the area. Today, the wetland parks connecting northern and southern Kaohsiung have been fully developed, with the reflections of clouds and sunlight on the green waterside creating a charming scene filled with chirping insects and singing birds, which has become one of the most pleasant and beautiful corners in the city.
