Jiu Fan Pi Wetland Park Introduction
Jiufen Pond was originally a public irrigation pond providing water for agriculture. After a period of agricultural decline and the obstruction caused by the highway, it was once abandoned and fell victim to illegal dumping of construction waste. Through the efforts of environmental groups and local enthusiasts, the original waterways were rehabilitated, and the concept of a wetland nature park was introduced. Facilities such as walking paths, water-friendly areas, educational zones, water quality sedimentation areas, and natural forest areas were planned. This not only provides a habitat for natural wildlife but also serves as a flood retention area and offers residents a close-to-nature oasis. Jiufen Pond currently features an A-shaped reinforced concrete structure, which was an important tool for early timber companies to transport logs to the log storage pool, carrying significant historical value and serving as a distinctive landmark. Today, the network of wetland parks connecting northern and southern Kaohsiung has formed beautifully, with the reflections of sunlight and clouds on the green watersides, and the sounds of insects and birds creating a lush and vibrant scene, making it one of the most comforting and delightful corners of the city.
