Jiu Fan Pi Wetland Park Introduction
Jiufen Pond was originally a public irrigation pond providing water for agriculture. After agricultural decline and the obstruction of highways, it fell into neglect and was subjected to illegal dumping. Through the efforts of environmental groups and local enthusiasts, the original waterways were cleaned and a wetland nature park concept was introduced, planning facilities such as walking paths, waterfront areas, educational zones, water quality sedimentation zones, and natural forest areas. This not only provides a habitat for natural wildlife but also serves as a flood retention area and a haven for citizens to get close to nature. Jiufen Pond currently retains an A-shaped reinforced concrete structure, which was an important tool for early lumber companies to transport logs to the wood storage pools, holding considerable historical significance and serving as a distinctive landmark of the area. Today, the chain of wetland parks connecting northern and southern Kaohsiung has taken shape, with reflections of clouds and sunlight on the green banks, the sounds of insects and birds creating a verdant scene that has become one of the most comfortable and delightful corners of the city.
