Sky Rainforest - R17 World Games Station Introduction
Shiyuan Station is the first elevated station on the red line traveling north after crossing Banping Mountain. It is located near the Zuoying Naval Base, and the exterior design of the station resembles a snow-white sailboat, sailing through the green waves of Banping Mountain, reflecting the image of Kaohsiung as a harbor city. Entering the station reveals a unique environment; the theme of this station is "Rainforest in the Sky." The artwork was created by two artists from the WJI team, incorporating insects and plants that existed in the past and ones that still exist in southern Taiwan, printed onto thin film and sandwiched between safety glass, recreating the appearance of a rainforest. The large public art piece covers an area of 1,000 square meters and is distributed across the station's skylights, side walls, and escalators, resembling a giant green embroidered curtain. This transforms the massive structural space into a light and shadow-filled, floating rainforest, giving visitors the illusion of being within the ecological green path of Banping Mountain while serving as a reminder of the relationship between land, environment, and humanity, prompting reflections alongside appreciation.
