Sky Rainforest - R17 Universiade Station Introduction

World Games Station is the first elevated station on the Red Line heading north after crossing Banping Mountain. It is located near the Zuoying Naval Base, and the design of the station's exterior resembles a snow-white sailboat, riding the green waves of Banping Mountain, echoing the imagery of Kaohsiung as a port city. Upon entering the station, visitors are greeted by a unique interior theme of a sky rainforest, created by two artists from the WJI team. This artwork features insects and plants that once existed and still exist in southern Taiwan, printed onto thin film in a special way and sandwiched between safety glass, recreating the appearance of a rainforest. The massive public art installation spans an area of 1,000 square meters, distributed across the station's skylights, the main side walls, and escalators, resembling a gigantic green tapestry that transforms the grand structure of the station into a light-filled, ethereal sky rainforest. It gives visitors the illusion of being in the ecological green trails of Banping Mountain, reminding every passerby of the relationship between land, environment, and humanity, encouraging thoughtful appreciation.
