Sky Rainforest - R17 Universiade Station Introduction
Shiyun Station is the first elevated station on the Red Line traveling from south to north after crossing Banping Mountain, located near the Zuoying Naval Base. The design of the station's exterior resembles a snow-white sailboat, sailing through the green waves of Banping Mountain, echoing the imagery of Kaohsiung as a port city. Upon entering the station, visitors encounter a hidden wonder; the station's theme is an aerial rainforest. The artwork, created by two artists from the WJI team, features insects and plants that existed in the past and still exist in southern Taiwan, uniquely printed on film and pressed between safety glass, recreating the appearance of a rainforest. The massive public art piece covers an area of 1,000 square meters, distributed across the station's skylights, side walls, and escalators, resembling a giant green embroidered curtain, delicately transforming the large station structure into a light-and-shadow-filled, ethereal aerial rainforest, giving visitors the illusion of being in the ecological green trails of Banping Mountain while reminding each passerby of the relationship between land, environment, and humans, worthy of both appreciation and contemplation.
