Zeng Wen-Chung Art Museum Introduction
Meinong is a place of great natural beauty and talented individuals. The stunning mountains and earnest human connections have nurtured literary figures like Zhong Lihe, who devoted his life to literature and advocated for farmers' rights, as well as artists like Zeng Wenzhong, who selflessly contributed to aesthetic education and preserved the beauty of his hometown. Zeng Wenzhong is a renowned oil and watercolor painter who grew up in the Zeng family's house on Yong'an Old Street. He has a deep emotional connection to Meinong's local customs, beautiful landscapes, and residential architecture. He has created hundreds of works in his Meinong Hometown series and the Kaohsiung series, capturing the picturesque scenery of his hometown. He frequently donates large paintings to government cultural institutions and schools to promote aesthetic education among students. Zeng Wenzhong has a special affection for traditional Hakka houses, and noticing the unique and beautifully shaped structures gradually disappearing due to neglect, he has devoted efforts to their preservation and reuse. In 2000, he successfully rebuilt his ancestral home on Yong'an Street into a spacious modern gallery, where he established the "Zeng Wenzhong Art Museum" to showcase his own works and those of other artists while providing a venue for art and literature lectures. He also encourages the local community on Yong'an Street to preserve, document, and display Hakka artifacts and history, establishing a cluster of art galleries dedicated to Hakka culture, ensuring its continuation across generations.
