Meinong Hakka Cultural Center Introduction
The "Meinong Cultural and Creative Center," which was completed and opened at the end of 2015, is located on Yong'an Old Street, the oldest street in Meinong. The park features towering old rear fig trees swaying with lush greenery, and the buildings are divided into three main themes, creatively combining historic architecture with a new cultural base. The "Meinong Police Substation," constructed in 1902, is a Baroque historical building that blends Eastern and Western styles. After years of restoration, it has now become a multifunctional tourism service center, allowing visitors to appreciate the rustic beauty of the building and experience Hakka culture. The quaint "Japanese Dormitory" has been transformed into a kindergarten, while the newly built Education and Arts Center offers a vast collection of books for reading and listening, with a special section dedicated to Hakka-themed literature for public study and research. The "Kaichang Plaza," which connects the three new and old buildings, regularly hosts various innovative cultural and artistic activities, theatrical music performances, and Hakka markets. The cultural and creative center has also invited artists to reside, preserving and promoting Hakka culture. Since ancient times, the Meinong District has been known for its outstanding beauty and rich artistic atmosphere, and it is a stronghold of Hakka culture. The blending of tradition and modernity at the cultural and creative center not only witnesses the historical changes of Meinong but also serves as an important new location for experiencing and understanding Hakka culture.
