Meinong Cultural and Creative Center Introduction
The "Meinong Cultural and Creative Center," which was completed and opened at the end of 2015, is located in the oldest Yong'an Old Street of Meinong. The park is surrounded by towering old rubber trees, providing a shady environment. The buildings are divided into three main themes, creatively integrating historical architecture with a new cultural base. The "Meinong Police Substation," built in 1902, is a Baroque historical building that blends Eastern and Western styles. After years of restoration, it has now become a multifunctional tourist service center where visitors can appreciate the rustic beauty of the building and experience Hakka culture. The charming "Japanese Dormitory" has been transformed into a kindergarten, while the newly constructed Education and Art Center houses a large collection of books for reading and listening, featuring a special section dedicated to Hakka-themed publications for public study and research. The "Kai-Tsang Square," linking the three new and old buildings, holds various innovative cultural activities, theatrical music performances, and Hakka markets. The cultural center also invites resident artists to preserve and promote Hakka culture. Meinong has long been known for its natural beauty and rich cultural atmosphere, serving as a stronghold of Hakka culture. The integration of tradition and modernity at the cultural center not only witnesses the historical changes of Meinong but also serves as an important new location for experiencing and understanding Hakka culture.
