Meinong Hakka Cultural Center Introduction
The "Meinong Cultural and Creative Center," which was completed and opened at the end of 2015, is located on Yong'an Old Street, the oldest street in Meinong. The park is shaded by towering old casuarina trees, and the buildings are divided into three main themes, creatively combining historic architecture with a reimagined cultural base. The "Meinong Police Substation," built in 1902, is a Baroque historical building that harmoniously blends Eastern and Western styles. After years of restoration, it now serves as a multifunctional tourist service center where visitors can appreciate the rustic beauty of the building and experience Hakka culture in a comfortable setting. The quaint "Japanese Dormitory" has been transformed into a children's center, while the newly built Education and Arts Center boasts a large collection of books for reading and listening, with a special area dedicated to Hakka themed books for public reading and research. The "Kaiyuan Plaza," which connects the three new and old buildings, periodically hosts various innovative cultural and artistic activities, theatrical performances, musical events, and Hakka markets. The cultural and creative center also invites resident artists to inherit and promote Hakka culture. Since ancient times, the Meinong area has been known for its outstanding natural beauty and rich artistic atmosphere, making it a stronghold of Hakka culture. The combination of tradition and modernity at the cultural and creative center not only witnesses the historical changes of Meinong but has also become an important new location for experiencing and understanding Hakka culture.
