Meinong Hakka Cultural Park Introduction
The "Meinong Creative Cultural Center," which was completed and opened at the end of 2015, is located in the oldest street of Meinong, Yong'an Old Street. The park features towering old guava trees swaying in the breeze and ample greenery. The buildings are divided into three main themes, representing a creative work that integrates historical architecture with a revitalized cultural base. The "Meinong Police Substation," built in 1902, is a Baroque historical building that harmoniously blends Eastern and Western architectural styles. After years of restoration, it now serves as a multifunctional tourist service center, allowing visitors to appreciate the rustic beauty of the architecture and experience Hakka culture comfortably. The quaint "Japanese Dormitory" has become a kindergarten, while the newly constructed Education and Arts Center houses an extensive collection of books for reading and listening, with a special section dedicated to Hakka-themed literature for public study and research. The "Kaichang Plaza," connecting the three new and old buildings, regularly hosts various innovative cultural activities, theatrical performances, musical shows, and Hakka markets. The cultural center also invites artists for residencies, inheriting and promoting Hakka culture. The Meinong area has long been known for its natural beauty and vibrant arts scene, making it a significant hub for Hakka culture. The blending of tradition and modernity at the creative cultural center not only witnesses the historical changes in Meinong but also becomes an important new location for experiencing and understanding Hakka culture.
