Meinong Creative Cultural Park Introduction
The "Meinong Cultural and Creative Center," completed and opened at the end of 2015, is located on Yong'an Old Street, the oldest street in Meinong. The park features tall old mangrove trees with swaying leaves and abundant shade. The buildings are divided into three main themes, representing a creative work that combines historical architecture with a new cultural base. The "Meinong Police Substation," built in 1902, is a Baroque historical building that harmonizes Western and Japanese styles. After years of restoration, it has now become a multifunctional tourism service center where visitors can comfortably appreciate the building's rustic beauty and experience Hakka culture. The charming "Japanese Dormitory" has been transformed into a preschool, while the newly constructed Education and Arts Building has a large collection of books available for reading and listening, with a dedicated section for Hakka-themed literature for public research and study. The "Kaishi Square," which connects the three new and old buildings, hosts various innovative cultural and artistic activities, theatrical and musical performances, and Hakka markets from time to time. The cultural and creative center also invites artists in residence to carry on and promote Hakka culture. Meinong has historically been an area rich in talent and a thriving cultural atmosphere, serving as a stronghold for Hakka culture. The integration of tradition and modernity at the cultural and creative center not only bears witness to the historical changes in Meinong but also becomes an important new venue for experiencing and understanding Hakka culture.
