Meinong Hakka Cultural Center Introduction
The "Meinong Cultural and Creative Center," which was completed and opened at the end of 2015, is located in Yong'an Old Street, the oldest street in Meinong. The park features towering old castor trees swaying gracefully, with lush greenery providing shade. The buildings are divided into three main themes and represent a creative work that combines historical architecture with a renewed cultural base. The "Meinong Police Station," built in 1902, is a Baroque historical building that harmoniously blends Eastern and Western styles. After years of restoration, it now serves as a multifunctional tourism service center, allowing visitors to appreciate the rustic beauty of the architecture and experience Hakka culture. The quaint "Japanese Dormitory" has been transformed into a kindergarten, while the newly built Educational and Cultural Arts Center houses a large collection of books for reading and listening, as well as a special section dedicated to Hakka-themed literature for public research and study. The "Open Plaza," which connects the three new and old buildings, hosts various innovative cultural and artistic activities, theatrical and musical performances, and Hakka markets at irregular intervals. The cultural and creative center also invites resident artists to inherit and promote Hakka culture. Meinong has long been known for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant arts scene, making it a major center of Hakka culture. The integration of tradition and modernity at the cultural and creative center not only witnesses the historical changes of Meinong but also serves as an important new venue to experience and understand Hakka culture.
