Red Hair Port Cultural Park Introduction
Located at the entrance of Kaohsiung Port's Second Harbor, covering an area of 3.42 hectares, the Red Hair Port settlement has become a part of history due to relocation, yet the lives and spirit of the Red Hair Port people remain an eternal memory and heritage within the park. The Red Hair Port Cultural Park is a collaboration between the Kaohsiung City Government's Cultural Bureau and the Red Hair Port Cultural Association, featuring six main areas: the "High Tower Rotating Restaurant," "Sea Viewing Platform," "Exhibition Hall," "Outdoor Display Area," "Sky Walk," and "Pier and Waiting Room." The High Tower Rotating Restaurant is a 360-degree rotating dining venue converted from the "High Tower," where diners can enjoy the sunset alongside the bustling cargo ships reflecting on the waves. The Sea Viewing Platform, adjacent to the Kaohsiung Port waters, is the only unique spot in Taiwan for closely observing the grand "Ships Entering the Port," where visitors can see large vessels entering and leaving the port and the container loading and unloading operations, making it the most popular spot in the park for sunset viewing. The Exhibition Hall offers rich audio-visual interactive installations themed around the everyday life of the Red Hair Port settlement and historical materials passed down from ancestors, allowing visitors to journey through time and experience the maritime lifestyle from past to present. The Outdoor Display Area preserves the nostalgic warmth of old houses! With the relocation of Red Hair Port, only the Red Hair Port Cultural Park remains. We use conceptual exhibitions to recreate its former appearance, utilizing the original components of the old houses combined with traditional architectural methods to present a virtual reality reminiscent of life in the Red Hair Port settlement. The Sky Walk, which crosses the skies of the Red Hair Port Cultural Park, was originally the coal conveyor belt of the Taiwan Power Company’s Dalin Thermal Power Plant. It serves as an excellent viewpoint for tourists to admire the beautiful seascape of Red Hair Port.
