Kūn-ōo-káng Cultural Park Introduction
Located at the entrance of Kaohsiung Port's second harbor, covering an area of 3.42 hectares, the Hongmao Harbor Settlement has become a part of history due to the relocation of its residents, yet the lives and spirit of the Hongmao Harbor people remain an eternal memory and legacy within the park. The Hongmao Harbor Cultural Park is a collaborative effort between the Kaohsiung City Government's Cultural Bureau and the Hongmao Harbor Cultural Association, planning six main areas within the park: the "Kaohsiung Tower Rotating Restaurant," "Seaview Platform," "Exhibition Hall," "Outdoor Display Area," "Sky Walk," and "Pier and Waiting Room." The Kaohsiung Tower Rotating Restaurant allows guests to dine in a 360-degree revolving restaurant transformed from the "Kaohsiung Tower," where the sunset and the busy cargo ships reflect beautifully on the waves. The Seaview Platform, adjacent to the waters of Kaohsiung Port, is the only unique spot in Taiwan offering a close-up view of the magnificent "large ships entering the port," allowing visitors to observe the entry and exit of large vessels and the loading and unloading processes of containers, making it the most favored spot for watching the sunset. The Exhibition Hall features a wealth of interactive audiovisual installations themed on the daily lives of the Hongmao Harbor community and the historical materials passed down from ancestors, inviting visitors to traverse time and experience the marine lifestyle from ancient times to the present. The Outdoor Display Area retains the nostalgic charm of old houses! The relocation of Hongmao Harbor has left only this corner of the Hongmao Harbor Cultural Park. We replace the original appearance with conceptual curation, utilizing the original components of the old houses and combining them with traditional architectural techniques to present a virtual reality reminiscent of life in the Hongmao Harbor settlement. The Sky Walk, which spans the Hongmao Harbor Cultural Park, was formerly a coal conveyor belt from the Taipower Dalin Thermal Power Plant. It is an excellent spot for visitors to enjoy the beautiful ocean view of Hongmao Harbor.
