Hong Yu Xing Food Co., Ltd. was founded in 1994. The owners, Lin Xi-Hong and his wife, are locals from Penghu. To promote authentic Penghu cuisine, the couple decided to come to Taiwan 25 years ago, settling in the port city of Kaohsiung. They started selling Penghu squid balls from a small stall in the Cathay Market in Gushan District. Through continuous efforts, they successfully built the Hong Yu Xing brand. In recent years, due to production saturation and insufficient space, they planned and invested five years ago in constructing a high-standard food factory that integrates modern production processes and complies with various food safety regulations. Meanwhile, they also established Taiwan's first squid ball sightseeing factory that combines production with tourism. The factory features systematic management and modern German-imported equipment for production. The design of the sightseeing factory is ocean-themed, and upon entering the door, visitors feel as if they are in an ocean world, with the process of making squid balls on display. There are also DIY teaching experience activities, including cooked food and crafts for families, which promote environmental and marine education knowledge along with structural introductions. Additionally, the outdoor area of the factory retains a large amount of green landscaping, landscape adoption, and wastewater recycling, fully embodying the concept of "edutainment". In addition to having the first automated production line for squid balls in Taiwan, the venue also features a snack area with local specialties, a Penghu-style seafood market, a multimedia parent-child interactive play area, a DIY workshop for families, and an industry knowledge zone. Visitors can enjoy delicious and fresh squid balls while learning about the complete production process and the commitment to ingredient selection. Additionally, there is a wealth of marine educational knowledge to gain, making it a comprehensive experience for eating, drinking, playing, and having fun. With systematic factory management and modern machinery, the facility has obtained both ISO 22000 and HACCP food safety certifications, ensuring the production of high-quality products that meet food hygiene and safety standards.
