Hung Yu Food Co., Ltd. was founded in 1994. The owners, Lin Hsi-Hung and his wife, are locals from Penghu. To promote authentic Penghu cuisine, the couple decided to come to Taiwan 25 years ago to establish their business, choosing Kaohsiung, a harbor city, as their base. They started selling Penghu squid balls at a small stall in the Cathay Market in Gushan District, and through continuous effort, they successfully built the Hung Yu brand. In recent years, due to saturated production capacity and insufficient space, they planned and invested five years ago to construct a high-standard food factory that integrates modern production processes and complies with various food safety regulations. They also launched Taiwan's first squid ball tourism factory, combining production with tourism. The factory operates with systematic management and modern German-imported equipment. The tourism factory features an ocean theme, making visitors feel as if they have entered an oceanic world, while also providing a view of the squid ball production process. There are also DIY activities for parents and children, including cooked food and craft workshops, promoting environmental and ocean education as well as introductions to local ecosystems. Additionally, the factory premises preserve a large number of green plants, landscaping, and wastewater recycling, fully embodying the concept of "learning through fun." Everyone is warmly welcomed to visit Hung Yu's Squid Ball Museum!
