Hong Yu Food Co., Ltd. was established in 1994. The owners, Lin Xi-Hong and his wife, are native Penghu people. In order to promote authentic Penghu cuisine, they decided to come to Taiwan 25 years ago and set roots in Kaohsiung, a harbor city. They started their business at a small stall in the Gu Shan District's Cathay Market, selling Penghu squid balls. Through continuous effort, they successfully built the Hong Yu brand. In recent years, due to saturated production capacity and insufficient space, five years ago they planned and invested in the construction of a high-standard food factory that combines modern production processes with compliance to various food safety regulations. They also established Taiwan's first squid ball tourism factory that integrates production and tourism. This factory uses systematic management and modern German-imported equipment for production. The theme of the tourism factory is marine-related, and stepping through the door feels like entering an underwater world. Visitors can observe the squid ball production process and participate in family-friendly DIY activities such as prepared food and crafts. These activities promote environmental and marine education, along with structural introductions, etc. Additionally, the factory grounds retain a large amount of greenery, landscape adoption, and wastewater recycling, fully realizing the concept of "edutainment." In addition to having the first automated production line for squid balls in Taiwan, there is also a specialty snack area, a Penghu-style seafood market, a multimedia parent-child game area, a DIY classroom for family activities, and an industry knowledge zone. Visitors can not only enjoy the delicious and fresh squid balls but also learn about the complete production process and the commitment to quality ingredients. Additionally, there is an opportunity to gain rich marine education knowledge, offering a comprehensive experience of eating, drinking, playing, and having fun. With systematic factory management and modern machinery, the factory has obtained dual certifications of ISO 22000 and HACCP for food safety, producing high-quality products that meet food hygiene and safety standards.
