Hong Yu Food Co., Ltd. was established in 1994. The owners, Lin Xi-Hong and his wife, are local residents of Penghu. In order to promote authentic Penghu cuisine, the couple decided to join forces and come to Taiwan to strive for success 25 years ago, choosing Kaohsiung, a harbor city, to settle down. They started selling Penghu squid balls at a small stall in the Cathay Market in Gushan District. Through continuous efforts, they successfully built the Hong Yu brand. In recent years, due to saturated production capacity and limited space, they planned and invested in the construction of a high-standard food factory that incorporates modern production processes while complying with various food safety regulations five years ago. They also established Taiwan's first squid ball tourist factory that combines production and the tourism industry, utilizing systematic factory management and modern German-imported equipment for production. The tourist factory features an ocean theme, and stepping through the entrance feels like entering a marine world, where visitors can also view the squid ball production process. There are DIY educational activities for parents and children, such as preparing ready-to-eat food and handicrafts, promoting environmental and marine educational knowledge and constructions. Additionally, the factory grounds retain a large amount of green planting, landscape maintenance, and wastewater recycling, fully implementing the concept of "learning through play." In addition to having the first automated squid ball production line in Taiwan, it also features a specialty snack area, a Penghu-style seafood market, a multimedia interactive play area for parents and children, a DIY classroom for parent-child handcrafting, and an industry knowledge zone. Visitors can not only enjoy delicious and sweet squid balls but also learn about the complete production process and the insistence on quality ingredients. Additionally, you can gain rich marine education knowledge, making it a comprehensive experience of eating, drinking, playing, and enjoying. With a systematic factory management complemented by modern machinery and equipment, it is certified as an ISO 22000 and HACCP food safety factory, producing high-quality products that meet food hygiene and safety standards.
