Hong Yu Hang Food Co., Ltd. was established in 1994. The owners, Lin Hsi-Hung and his wife, are native Penghu residents. To promote authentic Penghu cuisine, they decided to come to Taiwan 25 years ago to work hard together, choosing Kaohsiung, a harbor city, as their base. They started selling Penghu squid meatballs at a small stall in the Gu Shan District's Cathay Market. Through relentless effort, they successfully built the Hong Yu Hang brand. In recent years, due to production capacity saturation and insufficient space, they planned and invested five years ago in the construction of a high-standard food factory that combines modern production processes and meets food safety regulations. Additionally, they established Taiwan's first squid meatball tourist factory that integrates production with tourism, using systematic factory management and modern German-imported equipment for production. The tourist factory features a marine theme; upon entering, visitors feel as if they have stepped into an ocean world, where they can also observe the squid meatball production process. There are DIY teaching experiences for families, including cooked food and crafts, promoting environmental and marine education knowledge and introductions. Furthermore, the factory premises retain abundant green plantings, landscape maintenance, and wastewater recycling, fully implementing the idea of "learning through fun." In addition to having the first automated production line for squid balls in Taiwan, it features a specialty snack area, a Penghu-style seafood market, a multimedia family game area, a hands-on DIY classroom for families, and an industry knowledge zone. Visitors can enjoy delicious and fresh squid balls while learning about the complete production process and the commitment to selected ingredients. Furthermore, they can gain rich marine education knowledge, with activities for eating, drinking, playing, and having fun all in one place. With systematic factory management and modern equipment, it is an ISO 22000 and HACCP certified facility that produces high-quality products in compliance with food hygiene and safety standards. Everyone is welcome to bring their children to the Squid Ball Museum to experience an entertaining and educational marine knowledge venue and engage in an enjoyable knowledge feast with the giant squid.
