Qianzhen Fishing Port Introduction
Qianzhen Fishing Port is the largest fishing port in Kaohsiung, with a water area of 312,500 square meters and a land area of 320,000 square meters. It can accommodate dozens of ocean-going fishing vessels of over a thousand tons. Most of the deep-sea fishing boats unload their catch here, making the seafood diverse and abundant, which can be said to drive the fishing industry in Kaohsiung. Various fishing institutions in the southern region, such as the Ocean Affairs Council, the Deep Sea Fisheries Research Center, the Fisheries Experiment Station, associations, and the Fisheries Cultural Museum, are also gathered here. Currently, it is the largest fishing port in Taiwan by tonnage of fishing boats docked and catch volume, making it the largest fishing hub in the country. Every day at dawn, fishing boats enter the port one after another, with some seafood sent directly to nearby processing factories, while others are sent to wholesale or direct sales markets. People can purchase fresh catches at the bustling fish market and visit the Seafood Exhibition Hall and Fishermen’s Village Museum in the Fisheries Building to learn about the rich marine resources and the lifestyle of early fishing villages. Due to its vast area and numerous functions, Qianzhen Fishing Port is the largest in Taiwan, with multifunctional development in fishing, tourism, leisure, cultural education, and maritime transportation.
