Qianzhen Fishing Port Introduction
Qianzhen Fishing Port is the largest fishing port in Kaohsiung, covering a water area of 312,500 square meters and a land area of 320,000 square meters. It can accommodate dozens of thousand-ton ocean fishing vessels, most of which unload their catch here, resulting in a diverse and abundant supply of seafood. This port is a driving force behind Kaohsiung's fishing industry and is home to various fishing institutions in the southern region, such as the Ocean Affairs Council, the Ocean Fishing Center, the Fisheries Research Institute, trade unions, and the Fisheries Cultural Museum. It currently stands as the largest ocean fishing port in Taiwan in terms of vessel tonnage and catch volume, making it the nation's premier fishing hub. Every day at dawn, fishing boats enter the port, and some seafood is sent directly to nearby processing plants, while others are delivered to wholesale or direct sales markets. Visitors can purchase fresh catches at the bustling fish market or visit the seafood exhibition hall and fishing village museum in the Fisheries Building to learn about the rich marine resources and the lifestyles of early fishing villages. With its vast area and multifunctional capabilities, Qianzhen Fishing Port is the largest fishing port in Taiwan, combining fishing, tourism, recreation, cultural education, and maritime transportation.
