Qianzhen Fishing Port Introduction
Qianzhen Fishing Port is the largest fishing port in Kaohsiung, with a water area of 312,500 square meters and a land area of 320,000 square meters. It can accommodate dozens of ocean fishing vessels of 1,000 tons. Most of the ocean fishing vessels unload their catches here, making the fish products diverse and abundant, thus driving the fishing industry in Kaohsiung. The fishing institutions in the southern region, such as the Ocean Affairs Council, the Ocean Fisheries Research Institute, trade unions, and the Fisheries Cultural Museum, are also gathered here. Currently, it is the largest ocean fishing port in Taiwan by tonnage and catch volume, making it the largest fishing hub in the country. Every day at dawn, fishing boats come into port, with some catches sent directly to nearby processing plants while others are sent to wholesale or direct sales markets. People can purchase fresh catches in the bustling fish market and visit the Seafood Exhibition Hall and Fishing Village Museum in the fishing industry building to learn about abundant marine resources and the lifestyles of early fishing villages. Due to its vast area and diverse functions, Qianzhen Fishing Port can be said to be the largest in Taiwan, developed for multifunctional purposes including fishing, tourism, recreation, cultural education, and maritime transportation.
