Qianzhen Fishing Port Introduction

Chienchen Fishing Port is the largest fishing port in Kaohsiung, covering a water area of 312,500 square meters and a land area of 320,000 square meters. It can accommodate dozens of thousand-ton offshore fishing vessels, with most of these ships unloading their catch here, resulting in a diverse and abundant supply of seafood that drives the fishing industry in Kaohsiung. Various fishing organizations in the southern region, such as the Ocean Affairs Council, the Offshore Fishery Center, the Fisheries Research Institute, unions, and the Fisheries Cultural Hall, are also located in this area. Currently, it is the largest offshore fishing port in Taiwan in terms of the tonnage of fishing vessels docked and the amount of catch, making it the nation's major fishing hub. Every day at dawn, fishing vessels enter the port, with some seafood being processed directly in nearby factories and others sent to wholesale or retail markets. Visitors can purchase fresh catches at the bustling fish market and visit the Fisheries Building's seafood exhibition hall and fishermen's village museum to learn about the rich marine resources and the lifestyles of early fishing communities. With its vast area and multiple functions, Chienchen Fishing Port is the largest in Taiwan, integrating fishing, tourism, leisure, cultural education, and maritime transportation development.
