Sanfong Temple Introduction
Sanfeng Temple, formerly known as Sanfeng Pavilion, was initially built during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, boasting a history of over 300 years. It served as the guardian deity for the residents of Sankuai Village (near Kaohsiung Train Station and Jianguo 3rd Road), with its main deity worshiped being the Grand Marshal Nezha. In 1971, it was relocated to its current site on Hebei 2nd Road. The Northern-style three-story temple, with its elegant and luxurious carvings and colors, features door gods painted in a flat decorating technique, crafted by the master Pan Lishui. The solemn and delicate atmosphere, combined with the broad temple courtyard, enhances its grandeur. Sanfeng Temple is the largest Nezha temple in Taiwan, and during festivals, the Nezha troupes from various places come to perform competitive displays, attracting devotees and turning the event into a lively carnival in the religious community.
