Sanfeng Temple Introduction
Sanfeng Temple, originally known as Sanfeng Pavilion, was established during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of over 300 years. It serves as the guardian deity for the residents of Sankuaicuo (near Kaohsiung Railway Station and Jianguo 3rd Road), worshiping the main deity Nezha. In 1971, it was relocated to its current site on Hebei 2nd Road. The temple features a three-story Northern-style architecture that is elegantly adorned with intricate carvings and colors. The door gods, painted using the flat-color technique, are the work of renowned master Pan Lishui, showcasing solemnity and delicacy. The expansive temple courtyard adds to its grandeur. Sanfeng Temple is the largest Nezha temple in Taiwan, and during festivals, various Nezha performances from different regions, regardless of day or night, attract many devotees, making it a lively carnival in the religious community.
