Sanfeng Temple Introduction
Sanfeng Temple, formerly known as Sanfeng Pavilion, was first built during the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty and has a history of over three hundred years. It serves as the guardian deity for the residents of Sankuaicuo (near Kaohsiung Railway Station and Jianxing 3rd Road), with the main deity being Nezha, the Third Prince of the Central Altar. In 1971, it was relocated to its current site on Hebei 2nd Road. The temple is designed in a northern-style three-story structure, elegant and splendid in both carvings and colors. The door gods painted using flat coloring techniques are the work of master painter Pan Lishui, embodying solemnity and delicacy. The spacious temple courtyard adds to its grandeur. Sanfeng Temple is the largest Nezha temple in Taiwan, and during festivals, various Nezha troupes from across the regions perform competitive displays that attract devotees, turning it into a vibrant carnival for the religious community.
