Zhongdu Tangrong Brick Kiln Factory Introduction
The Zhongdu TANG RONG Brick Kiln was once famous for producing high-quality refractory bricks, and its predecessor was the Jiaojiao Brick Factory established in 1899. In 1985, the old factory building was set to be demolished due to factors such as modernization and environmental protection. However, the preservation of two towering chimneys, a bagua kiln, three downdraft kilns, an experimental kiln, a tunnel kiln, and a brick office building from the Japanese colonial period has transformed it into a living museum of brick kiln history. It not only witnesses the trajectory of industrial economic development over the past century but also provides architectural aesthetic value and examples through the structure, texture, and brick decorations of red brick buildings. Therefore, after 2003, it was gradually designated as a municipal and national historic site, becoming the first historic cultural park in Kaohsiung.
