Sankuaicuo Old Station Introduction
Sankuaicuo Station (Old Sankuaicuo Station) began operations in February 1908 (the 41st year of the Meiji era). Sankuaicuo Station served both passenger and freight transport, with a primary focus on cargo, particularly contributing significantly to the transportation of finished products for the Taiwan Brick Company located to its north. Overall, Sankuaicuo Station can be considered an important railway station, second only to the Old Takao Station (now Kaohsiung Port Station) before the opening of the current Kaohsiung Railway Station in June 1941 (the 16th year of the Showa era). The existing station building was completed in 1923 (the 12th year of the Taisho era) and is a Japanese-style wooden railway station structure. With the relocation of industries from the central city, the Old Sankuaicuo Station was closed in 1986. In 2004, the Kaohsiung City Cultural Bureau designated the Old Sankuaicuo Station as a city monument. Due to years of disrepair, Taiwan Railways decided to carry out renovations, and the refurbishment of the station building was completed in 2012, located about 50 meters away from the new station.
