Sankuaicuo Old Station Introduction
Sankuaicuo Station (Old Sankuaicuo Station) began operations in February 1908. Sankuaicuo Station served both passenger and freight services, with a primary focus on freight transport, especially in providing significant contributions to the transportation of finished products from the Taiwan Brick Company located to its north. Overall, Sankuaicuo Station was one of the important railway stations, second only to the old Dagou Station (now Kaohsiung Port Station), before the current Kaohsiung Station was opened in June 1941. The existing station building was completed in 1923 and is a Japanese-style wooden railway station. With the industrial relocation from Zhongdu, the old Sankuaicuo Station was closed in 1986. In 2004, the Kaohsiung City Bureau of Cultural Affairs designated the old Sankuaicuo Station as a city-designated historical site, and due to the deterioration of the station building, Taiwan Railways decided to undertake repairs in 2008, which were completed in 2012. The old station is approximately 50 meters away from the new station.
