Sankuaicuo Old Station Introduction
Sankuaicuo Station (Old Sankuaicuo Railway Station) began operations in February 1908 (the 41st year of the Meiji era). Sankuaicuo Station operated both passenger and freight services, with a significant focus on freight, particularly contributing to the transportation of finished products for the Taiwan Brick Company located to its north. Overall, Sankuaicuo Station was the second most important railway station after the old Takao Station (now Kaohsiung Port Station) before the opening of today's Kaohsiung Railway Station in June 1941 (the 16th year of the Showa era). The existing station building was completed in 1923 (the 12th year of the Taisho era) and is a Japanese-style wooden railway station structure. As industry relocated from the area, the old Sankuaicuo Railway Station was decommissioned in 1986. In 2004, the Cultural Bureau of Kaohsiung City designated the old Sankuaicuo Railway Station as a city historic site. In 2008, due to the deterioration of the station building, Taiwan Railways decided to undertake repairs, and the renovation of the station building was completed in 2012, with the old station located about 50 meters from the new station.
