Sankuang Station Introduction
The Sankuaicuo Station (formerly Old Sankuaicuo Station) started operations in February 1908 during the Meiji period. Sankuaicuo Station operated both passenger and freight services, primarily focusing on freight transportation, especially contributing significantly to the shipment of finished goods from the Taiwan Brick Company located to its north. Overall, Sankuaicuo Station can be considered an important railway station, second only to the Old Dagou Station (now Kaohsiung Port Station) before the current Kaohsiung Station was opened in June 1941. The existing station building, completed in 1923 during the Taisho era, is a Japanese-style wooden station structure. With the relocation of industrial activities, the Old Sankuaicuo Station was decommissioned in 1986. In 2004, the Kaohsiung City Bureau of Cultural Affairs designated the Old Sankuaicuo Station as a municipal historic site. In 2008, due to the deterioration of the station building, Taiwan Railways decided to conduct repairs, which were completed in 2012. The old station is approximately 50 meters away from the new station.
