Zhongdu Love River Wetland Park Introduction
The Dongdu Wetland Park, connecting the ecological green corridor of Kaohsiung City, is located between Shiquan Road and Jiuru Road on the south side of the Love River. It spans approximately 2.5 kilometers and covers an area of over 7,000 square meters. To create a "sustainable ecological city with riverside flowers" that integrates with citizens' daily lives, the Love River Wetland Park employs ecological methods to construct slopes, recreating the rich ecological habitat of early wetlands. The park features a log building serving as a visitor center, along with wooden pavilions, suspension bridges, tidal waterfront platforms, and light fixtures designed from driftwood, which all contribute to a rustic yet natural ambiance. The plantings mimic complex natural forest ecosystems, restoring rich vegetation to the urban area. Visitors can enjoy the verdant, meandering riverbanks where various waterbirds can be seen flying and resting, and the mangroves and wetlands breathe new life into the Love River. Due to its multifaceted functions, encompassing natural ecology, educational interpretation, and public recreation, as well as its comprehensive representation of the diversity along the Love River, the Dongdu Wetland Park was awarded the "Global Excellence in Construction Award" in 2012, earning it the reputation of being Kaohsiung's metropolitan paradise.
