Zhongdu Love River Wetland Park Introduction
The Chengdu Love River Wetland Park, which connects the ecological green corridor of Kaohsiung City, is located between Shijuan and Jiuru Roads on the south side of the Love River. It spans approximately 2.5 kilometers and covers an area of over 7,000 square meters. In order to create a "sustainable ecological city with fragrant flowers by the water" that integrates with citizens' lives, the Love River Wetland Park employs ecological engineering methods to construct slopes and recreate the rich ecological habitat of early wetlands. The park features a log building as a visitor center, as well as wooden pavilions, suspension bridges, tidal waterside platforms, and light fixtures and seating designed with driftwood as the main theme, all exuding a rustic atmosphere. Additionally, the artificial layered forest vegetation reintroduces a rich forest landscape to the urban area. Strolling along the lush, winding riverside, one can observe various water birds flying and resting, while the mangroves and wetlands bring new vitality to the Love River. Due to its diverse functions encompassing natural ecology, educational interpretation, and public recreation, as well as its comprehensive representation of the diversity along the Love River, the Chengdu Wetland Park was awarded the "Global Excellence in Structural Engineering Award" in 2012, earning it the nickname "Kaohsiung's Metropolitan Peach Blossom Source."
