Guanghe Temple Introduction
Guanghe Temple, located at No. 608, Zhongzheng Road, Xinpu Township, Hsinchu County, is locally referred to as "Wangye Temple." However, it is not dedicated to the worship of Wangye deities such as Wufu Qiansui, but primarily to San-shan Guo-wang, which is referred to as "Wangye" by the Hakka people. Since San-shan Guo-wang is a belief unique to the Hakka, they brought this faith with them when they migrated to Taiwan, making Guanghe Temple a religious center for the Hakka community in Xinpu and one of the most well-known temples in the area. The most distinctive feature of Guanghe Temple is its "dui-chang-zuo" architectural style, which is similar to the Wan-hui Temple in Wan-dan Township, Pingtung County. The construction centers around a central axis, with wood carvings on both sides crafted by different groups of artisans, resulting in variations in the design of elements such as the hanging tubes, brackets, and lion pedestals on either side, reflecting the unique craftsmanship of different masters.
