Kang Hsi Historic Cultural Park (Former Kang Hsi Branch Station) Introduction
The Kuanhsi Police Station is the only designated historic site in Hsinchu County, preserving the complete environment for police officers' work and life, witnessing the evolution of the police system from the Japanese colonial period to modern times, as well as the history of local security. The overall area includes the official buildings and residences from the Japanese colonial period, with the station, station master's dormitory, and police dormitories forming a complete area with local characteristics and historical significance related to the Kuanhsi police system. The architectural group of the Kuanhsi Police Station exhibits various architectural styles due to differences in function and construction period, primarily categorized into Western historical style buildings and traditional Japanese wooden structures. The Kuanhsi Police Station features reinforced brick masonry with modern design, with a Japanese tile roof, entrance with a triangular gable, and multi-layered cornice design. The pillars at the entrance are adorned with Western geometric patterns, reflecting the popular "Hsing-Ya style" of architecture at that time. The rear buildings, including the "Station Master's Dormitory," "Four Connected Single Officers' Dormitories," and "Japanese Dormitory," are constructed in a Japanese style with wooden frames and cultural tiles, with the decorative ridge tiles on the roofs serving as significant design elements.
