Baoshan Little West Lake Introduction
Along County Road 44, you’ll find Baoshan Township, just a 20-minute drive from Hsinchu Science Park. Nestled beside a hill in Youtian Village is an ecological pond with serene lake views and untouched agricultural ecology. A bridge in the shape of an arch in the center of the pond reflects beautifully on the water, earning it the title of "Taiwanese version of West Lake" for its picturesque scenery, comparable to that of West Lake in Hangzhou, China. Originally a small pond for irrigating farmland, it was transformed into a large ecological pond combining living, production, and ecology through a local rural revitalization project, and is thus called the "Three-Life Ecological Pond." The rich local ecology is home to species like the Formosan Blue Magpie, Rainbow-colored Pheasant, and Koel, and visitors can also spot frogs and squirrels. The most stunning feature is the gray-white crescent-shaped arch bridge located in the center of the pond. Its symmetrical circular holes reflecting on the water create a scene reminiscent of traditional Chinese landscape paintings. A few mandarin ducks glide across the calm lake surface, creating ripples that disrupt the originally mirror-like reflection of the arch bridge, making it look like a secluded fairyland. Surrounding the pond is a tranquil environment, with a 400-meter-long lakeside walkway that takes only 15 minutes to stroll. It consists of wooden paths that are gentle and easy to walk, shaded by fragrant osmanthus, maple trees, and beech trees, keeping visitors cool even under the blazing sun. Walking along the lakeside and enjoying the gentle breeze under the tree shade, one can overlook the small island in the middle of the lake from the crescent-shaped arch bridge, where a few adorable white ducks frolic, adding vibrancy to this beautiful landscape resembling a traditional Chinese painting. The tranquil lake, with its weeping willows gently kissing the water's surface, becomes even more stunning as the sunset casts golden hues upon the ecological pond.
