Carpenter Huang Wen-bin's craftsmanship is rooted in traditional wooden mold techniques, and he is bold in challenging and innovating. What others see as discarded small wooden pieces, Huang Wen-bin sees as treasures. With a philosophy of loving wood and valuing materials through environmental recycling, he glues and compresses wooden blocks, utilizing lathe technology and bearing principles to combine the beauty of wood color, creating astonishing pieces of wooden mosaic art. His shift from the precision and uniformity pursued in wooden molds to practical craftsmanship as an artistic creation, coupled with brilliant designs of wood colors, has honed Huang Wen-bin’s exceptional skills through long-term research, earning him numerous awards, including the 5th National Technical Model (Golden Skill Award), the 4th Huangxi Art Exhibition Excellent Award, inclusion in the 12th Taiwan Craft Design Competition, inclusion in the 2008 Taiwan Craft Competition, and inclusion in the 2015 Taiwan International Wood Carving Competition. In 2020, Huang Wen-bin was selected for the Taiwan Craft Home, showcasing the "Jingping Fine Craft Workshop," where he completed exquisite wooden mosaic works through meticulous and precise angle calculations and thorough design planning. He has demonstrated that carpentry can not only be about woodwork but also can be a sophisticated craft, transforming it into innovative artistic perspectives. Huang Wen-bin believes that technique needs to be enriched by art, while art requires support from technique. Devoting his life to mastering one craft embodies the spirit of "Ippin Sōken."
