Woodcraft artist Huang Wen-bin has his skills rooted in traditional wooden mold techniques while bravely challenging and innovating. What others see as discarded small wooden pieces are treasures in Huang Wen-bin's eyes. With a philosophy of cherishing wood and promoting environmental recycling, he glues and presses these wooden blocks, applying lathe technology and bearing principles to combine the beauty of wood color, creating breathtaking拼木宝格 (spliced wood crafts). He transforms the precision and standardization sought after in wooden mold production into practical artistic creations. With outstanding designs that highlight the colors of the wood, Huang Wen-bin has honed his exceptional skills through years of dedicated research, earning numerous awards, including: the 5th National Crafts Model Award (Gold Award), the 4th Huangxi Art Exhibition Selection, inclusion in the 12th Taiwan Craft Design Competition, inclusion in the 2008 Taiwan Craft Competition, and selection in the 2015 Taiwan International Wood Sculpture Competition. In 2020, Huang Wen-bin was selected by the Taiwan Craft House, where the "Jingping Beautiful Craft Creation Workshop" exhibits intricately calculated angles and meticulously detailed design planning, resulting in exquisite拼木作品 (spliced wood works). This showcases the exquisite craftsmanship of Jingping wood arts, demonstrating that woodworking can be not only functional but also an exquisite and intricate craft. When combined with mechanisms, it becomes an innovative artistic vision. Huang Wen-bin believes that technology needs to be nurtured by art, and art requires the support of technology.
