Changhua City and Bagua Mountain Fort Introduction
The old mountain artillery was no match for the enemy troops that emerged on the old site known as Dingjun Mountain, on Bagua Mountain. When Changhua City was completed in the 20th year of the Jiaqing reign, a brick fort was built on the mountain named Dingjun Mountain Fort, which included four gun emplacements and a city tower. In the first year of the Tongzhi reign (1862), Dai Chaochun joined forces with the Baguahui to revolt. A few days later, Bagua Mountain was occupied, and the artillery at Dingjun Fort was also captured and used to bombard Changhua City, which was subsequently besieged and fell two days later.
