C-119從民國47年開始在空軍服役,原本有上百架,到了民國84年起陸續除役,全部堪用的,大約只剩35架。這種專門用來擔任運補、空投、空降及搜救等任務的運輸機,現在已經全部由較好的C-130取代。除役末期前,C-119主要用來搭載傘兵,讓傘兵訓練跳傘,或是用來載運貨物,有時也會載運回營或回鄉的官兵。

C-119 Military Aircraft Park The C-119 transport aircraft, also known as the "Flying Boxcar," was manufactured by the Fairchild Aviation Corporation in the United States with a range of up to 13 hours. On October 28, 1958, the United States loaned 16 aircraft to the Air Force, and on July 8, 1959, it was officially received, replacing the C-46.
