Huwei Tsuo Shalong Introduction
Old House Transformed into a Salon: A New Cultural Spot in Huwei. Former legislator Wang Li-Ping spent two years renovating a 70-year-old "Hsing-Ya style" old house hidden in the urban area of Huwei City, creating a space that promotes ecology, gender, and alternative globalization. This not only leaves a historical building in Yunlin County but also adds a salon for promoting art, culture, ecology, and gender ideology. The Huwei Salon is tucked away in the alleys of Huwei City and features an architecture that combines "Japanese style" and "Western flavor," approximately built in the 1940s. Due to urban expansion, it has been overshadowed by surrounding buildings, and not many locals are aware of it. Over two years ago, serendipitously, Wang Li-Ping purchased this building and began renovations to create a space for deep artistic and cultural development. The Huwei Salon is the first venue in Yunlin County to attempt to integrate art, culture, ecology, environmental protection, and literature. Wang Li-Ping stated that Huwei Salon preserves the beauty of this old building while also incorporating many modern art creations, showcasing the spirit of thought and discussion, preserving a public building in Yunlin that is worthy of appreciation.
