Old House Transformed into Salon: A New Cultural Venue in Huwei Former legislator Wang Li-Ping spent two years renovating a 70-year-old "Xingya-style" old house tucked away in Huwei, creating a hub for promoting ecology, gender issues, and alternative globalization. This not only preserves a historical building in Yunlin but also enhances a space for promoting art, culture, ecology, and genderism. The Huwei House Salon is discreetly located in the alleys of Huwei, featuring an architectural style that combines both "Japanese" and "Western" elements, built around the 1940s. Due to urban expansion, it has been overshadowed by surrounding developments, and not many locals are aware of its existence. Over two years ago, Wang Li-Ping serendipitously purchased the building and began the renovation, transforming it into a space that fosters profound artistic and cultural development. The Huwei House Salon is the first in Yunlin County to attempt a combination of art, culture, ecology, environmental protection, and literature. Wang Li-Ping emphasizes that the salon preserves the beauty of the old building while integrating modern artistic creations, embodying the spirit of reflection and discussion, making it a worthy public structure for appreciation in Yunlin.
