Old House Transformed into a Salon: A New Arts and Culture Hub in Huwei Former legislator Wang Li-Ping spent two years refurbishing a more than seventy-year-old "Hsing Ya Style" old house located in the city of Huwei. The renovation aims to create a space that promotes ecology, gender issues, and alternative globalization. This not only preserves a historical building in Yunlin but also adds a venue for promoting art, culture, ecology, and gender awareness. The Huwei House Salon is nestled in the alleys of Huwei, featuring a blend of "Japanese" and "Western" architectural styles, built around the 1940s. Due to urban expansion, it has been overshadowed by surrounding buildings, and few locals are aware of its existence. Approximately two years ago, Wang Li-Ping came across this building and, after acquiring it, embarked on transforming it into a space dedicated to deep artistic cultural development. The Huwei House Salon is the first space in Yunlin County to attempt to integrate art, culture, ecology, environmental protection, and literature. Wang Li-Ping expressed that the Huwei House preserves the beauty of the old building while incorporating many contemporary art creations, showcasing a spirit of thought and discussion, and providing Yunlin with a public building worth experiencing.

Huwei Cuo Salon Introduction

Old House Transformed into Salon: A New Cultural Hub in Huwei Former legislator Wang Li-Ping has spent two years renovating an over seventy-year-old "Xingya-style" old house, hidden in the urban area of Huwei, into a hub for promoting ecology, gender, and alternative globalization. This initiative not only preserves a historical building in Yunlin but also creates a salon for promoting art, culture, ecology, and feminism. The Huwei Salon is nestled among the alleys of Huwei City, featuring an architectural style that blends "Japanese" and "Western" influences, built around the 1940s. Due to urban expansion, it has been obscured by other buildings, and surprisingly few locals are aware of its existence. Over two years ago, by chance, Wang Li-Ping acquired this building, and after renovating it, she has transformed it into a space dedicated to profound artistic and cultural development. The Huwei Salon is Yunlin County's first attempt to combine art, culture, ecology, environmental protection, and literature. Wang Li-Ping stated that the salon preserves the beauty of this old building while incorporating many contemporary art creations, showcasing a spirit of reflection and discussion, and retaining a public building in Yunlin that is worthy of appreciation.
