Huwei Tsuo Salon Introduction
Old House Transformed into a Salon: A New Cultural Spot in Huwei Former legislator Wang Li-Ping spent two years renovating a more than seventy-year-old "Hsing-Ya style" old house hidden in the city of Huwei. It has been transformed into a platform for promoting ecology, gender, and alternative globalization. This initiative not only preserves a historical building in Yunlin but also creates a salon for promoting art, culture, ecology, and gender studies. The Huwei Salon is discreetly located in the alleys of Huwei City, featuring a building that combines "Japanese style" and "Western flavor," constructed around the 1940s. Due to urban expansion, it has been overlooked by many residents of Huwei. Over two years ago, Wang Li-Ping serendipitously acquired this building and commenced renovations, aiming to create a space for deep artistic and cultural development. The Huwei Salon is Yunlin County's first attempt to combine art, culture, ecology, environmental protection, and literature into one space. Wang Li-Ping stated that the salon has preserved the beauty of this old building while incorporating modern art creations, showcasing the spirit of reflection and discussion, thus retaining a public building in Yunlin that is worth appreciating.
