Old House Transformed into a Salon: A New Cultural Venue in Huwei Former legislator Wang Liping spent two years renovating a seventy-year-old "Xingya-style" old house, hidden in the urban area of Huwei City, transforming it into a venue promoting ecology, gender equality, and alternative globalization. This not only preserves a historical building in Yunlin but also adds a salon for promoting art, culture, ecology, and gender ideology. The Huwei Salon is nestled among the alleys of Huwei City and features a unique architecture combining "Japanese style" and "Western flavor," built in the 1940s. Due to urban expansion, it became obscured among surrounding buildings, and not many locals are aware of its existence. More than two years ago, Wang Liping happened upon this building, purchased it, and began its renovation to create a space for profound artistic and cultural development. The Huwei Salon is the first attempt in Yunlin County to combine art, culture, ecology, environmental protection, and literature in one space. Wang Liping stated that the salon preserves the beauty of this old building while incorporating many modern artistic creations, showcasing a spirit of reflection and discussion, thus preserving a public building worthy of appreciation in Yunlin.

Huwei Village Salon Introduction

Old House Transformed into a Salon: A New Cultural Hub in Huwei Former legislator Wang Li-Ping spent two years organizing and renovating a more than 70-year-old "Xingya-style" old house hidden in the urban area of Huwei, creating a place to promote ecology, gender, and alternative globalization. This project not only preserves a historical building in Yunlin but also adds a venue for promoting art, culture, ecology, and gender ideology. The Huwei Salon is nestled within the alleys of Huwei and features a blend of "Japanese" and "Western" architectural styles, built around the 1940s. Due to urban expansion, it became obscured among other buildings, and not many locals are aware of its existence. Over two years ago, Wang Li-Ping serendipitously purchased this building and set about transforming it into a space that fosters profound cultural and artistic development. The Huwei Salon is the first space in Yunlin County to attempt to combine art, culture, ecology, environmental protection, and literature. Wang Li-Ping noted that the Huwei Salon preserves the beauty of this old building while incorporating contemporary art creations, showcasing a spirit of thought and discussion, and preserving a public building worth appreciating in Yunlin.
