The Wengqiang is a part of the wall of the residence of the giant merchant Yan Dongyi, which was built during the Daoguang period. After the major earthquake in the 31st year of the Guangxu era, the residence was renovated, and a portion of the Wengqiang was retained.

Wongqiang is part of the enclosing wall of the residence of the wealthy businessman Yan Dongyi, which was established between the rice milling factory and the oil factory. This residence was built during the Daoguang era and part of the enclosing wall was left after the residence was rebuilt following the major earthquake in the 31st year of the Guangxu era.
