Linbei Cartel Digital Life Museum Introduction
Linbei is the best! The Hakka agricultural culture in Linbei is strong with the slogan "Linbei Ka Hao!" This phrase comes from the unique greeting of Linbei, which is the largest Hakka settlement in Yunlin County, mainly consisting of Hakka people from Hsinchu and Miaoli regions. The living museum preserves the tobacco barn architecture originating from the tobacco industry, showcasing and promoting Hakka agricultural culture. It integrates with the nearby learning gardens and cultural tunnels, offering butterfly watching and introducing the characteristics and history of Linnei Township. Currently, there are 23 tobacco barns remaining in the Linbei community. Historical records indicate that around 1939, the Japanese introduced tobacco to Taiwan and built these barns. Yunlin County is one of the main tobacco production areas in Taiwan, and it is known for having the most and best-preserved tobacco barns, particularly among the Hakka families along the Zhuoshui River.
