Linbei Digital Life Hall Introduction
Linbei is the best! The Hakka farming culture in "Linbei Kahui"! It comes from a unique greeting in Linbei, which is the largest "Northern Hakka" settlement in Yunlin County, concentrated with Hakka people from the Hsinchu and Miaoli regions. The Living Museum preserves early tobacco industry-related architecture known as tobacco buildings, showcasing and promoting the Hakka farming culture. It combines surrounding learning gardens and cultural culverts, offering butterfly watching as well as introducing the unique features and history of Linnan Township. Currently, the Linbei community has 23 remaining tobacco buildings. According to historical records, around 1939, the Japanese introduced tobacco to Taiwan and built tobacco buildings. Yunlin County is one of the main tobacco production areas in Taiwan, and it is the region with the most and better-preserved tobacco buildings, especially those of the Hakka lineage along the Zhuoshui River.
