Located in Yonghe's Korean Street, Yi Ju Dong/Liu's Dumplings was founded by Liu Chongzi and his wife, who hail from Weihai, Shandong. At the age of 19, in 1947, they crossed over to Korea from their hometown, and then to Taiwan. Armed with the skills learned from their hometown and the experience gained from local friends, they opened "Yi Ju Dong Bakery" in 1955. The second generation, Liu Degang and his wife, took over the business, expanding the menu to include Northern-style stir-fry, noodles, and dumplings. Highly praised by food writer Zhu Zhenfan, their popular dishes such as Shandong roasted chicken, three-flavor fried sauce noodles, plump dumplings, and stir-fried noodles are not only favorites among media outlets but also evoke nostalgic flavors for many.
