Bihu Park Introduction
After getting off at Wen-de Station on the Dahu Line of the MRT, turn into Alley 101 on Wende Road and walk about 200 meters to see the Dahu Lake surrounded by green mountains; this is Bihu Park. Bihu Park is located at No. 175, Section 2, Neihu Road, Neihu District, Taipei City, near the National Taiwan University of Arts. Covering an area of over 13 hectares, the "Dapeihu" within the park spans approximately 8 hectares and was once a source of irrigation water for agriculture. Hidden in the Neihu District, Bihu Park serves as a backyard for local residents and is one of only two water parks in Taipei with a large lake. The park is nestled by the mountains and lakes, featuring a landscape with overlapping mountains and an inviting lake, creating a harmonious environment that leaves a deep impression on visitors due to its serene beauty. Since its establishment in 1987, the park has completed various enhancements along the eastern lakeside, including a Chinese-style pavilion, a zigzag bridge, and a lakeside trail. The lake's banks are adorned with landscape plants such as fringe trees, willows, bald cypresses, paperbark trees, monkey pods, royal poinciana, hibiscuses, azaleas, and dwarf tapioca plants. During spring and summer, colorful butterflies flutter about, enhancing the picturesque lake and mountain scenery. The park includes a management center (commonly known as the Little White House), and the reading room on the first floor is available for public use, along with a children’s playground, a tennis court, and a swimming pool. There are also designated fishing areas along the lake shore, allowing visitors to enjoy leisure activities such as fishing in addition to sightseeing. Additionally, there are six hiking trails that ascend through the lush mountains, providing shaded areas and concealed pavilions, creating a tranquil environment. From the mountain peak, the beautiful scenery of Bihu can be fully appreciated, making it an ideal place for recreation, hiking, and relaxation. Source: Neihu District Office website.
