Bihu Park Introduction

After getting off at Wende Station on the Dahu Line of the Taipei Metro, turn into Lane 101 of Wende Road and walk about 200 meters to see the large lake surrounded by lush mountains—this is Bihu Park. Bihu Park is located at No. 175, Section 2, Neihu Road, Neihu District, Taipei City, near the National Taiwan University of Arts. Covering an area of over 13 hectares, the park features a large pond known as Daping Lake, which occupies about 8 hectares and was once a source of water for agricultural irrigation. Nestled in the Neihu District, Bihu Park not only serves as a backyard for local residents but is also one of the only two water landscape parks in Taipei with a large lake. It is beautifully set against the mountains, with the scenic lake seamlessly blending into the park's picturesque environment, creating a tranquil beauty that often leaves visitors with a lasting impression. Since its establishment in 1987, the park has gradually completed the beautification of the green space on the east side of the lake, and constructed Chinese-style pavilions, winding bridges, and lakeside walking paths. The lake's banks are decorated with ornamental plants such as willows, bald cypress, paperbark trees, yellow flamboyant trees, hibiscus, azaleas, and dwarf rhododendrons, making it a stunning sight during spring and summer with butterflies fluttering about. The park features a management center (commonly referred to as the "Little White House"), a reading room on the first floor for public use, and a playground for children, a tennis court, and a swimming pool. The lakeside area is designated for fishing, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenery while engaging in leisure activities such as fishing. There are also six hiking trails leading up the mountain, where the dense shade provides a cool sanctuary. The pavilions are tucked away amidst the trees, creating a serene environment. Standing at the summit, one can enjoy the breathtaking view of Bihu, making it an ideal spot for recreation, hiking, and relaxation. Source: Neihu District Office website.
